Now, I adore Jeffrey Dean Morgan as much as the next straight female with a pair of eyes. But, seriously? It was time for Negan to die. And if it wasn’t time for Negan to die - it was not Rick’s choice to make. 

Sure, Rick’s the “leader” - or at least he was. Fact is - Maggie’s been running Hilltop for a good few months...hell, Ezekiel has The Kingdom. So yea, Rick’s the “leader”; he’s the leader of Alexandria. And even without the fact that there are other communities involved in this whole little “all out war”? Negan hasn’t actually killed anyone really ‘close’ to Rick - not really. 

Glenn was Maggie’s husband.

Abraham was Rosita’s...ex. But since Sasha already bit it (literally); I say let Rosita have a say in things. 

Not to mention the countless other people that Negan has slaughtered along the way (including his own people!).

Rick did not have in any way shape or form have the right to make the unilateral decision to let Negan live. This isn’t season 2 where half of the people ‘following’ him don’t know which end of the gun to point at a target.

Let’s add in the fact that Carl is dead. WTF is the point in keeping Negan alive if you’re going to kill Carl producers?! Theoretically, yes, Negan has a role to still play in the rest of the comics...but if we’re, as the producers put it, taking a left turn from the comic series (ie: killing Carl - a major player throughout the rest of the comics) then why the hell is Negan still alive?! 

But, once again, we have a Ricktatorship decision - and Maggie (and everyone else) better just choke it down huh? Cause Rick’s dead kid wanted it this way.

Ironically, I might (might) have been okay with this had Rick not pulled that stunt with the captured saviors a few episodes prior. ie: “Oh you’re totally safe if you help us kill these walkers...I give you my word....*after killing all the walkers and saving Rick in one case* Oops? I lied.” 

So, let’s just kill what boil down to Negan’s soldiers...just following orders (and in most cases probably just trying to stay the fuck alive)...but Negan? OH he can live.
