There's no such thing as "left" and "right." They're just words used by people to represent abstract ideas. The two blend together, as shown below:

If you go left enough times, you eventually go right. If you go right enough times, you eventually go left. So what is left and right? If you go left, then it's not right. But continue going left, and you'll start going right. When you go right, you're right, but then there's nothing left until you start going left after one too many rights. But then you are going left, so there must be something left, otherwise you cannot go left. But you are actually going right, because there's no rigid criteria for when you start going right after going left, so to some people you may be going right when you think you're going left. So you keep going left because they don't think you're right until you're going right and then there's nothing left.

Response to The Think Tank

There is a relatively new YouTube talk show entitled “The Think Tank”. It features a young man and woman talking about a host of issues. They rely on the daily hot topics and their unspoken sexual tension to ensure people tune in. One of the hosts has an established audience from The Young Turks, a progressive bastion of Internet Commentary.

Recently though, the show took a dark turn. They decided to bash and slander an innocent person that did nothing wrong to them. They attacked His character and many of his critical decisions. The object of their scorn was actually in the room with them as they went on and on. He did not shut their mouths. He just let them lie about Him. The object of their scorn? Jesus the Christ.

During the five-minute video, the progressive pairing called him a hypocrite and an angry man and a “dick.” They attacked three of his actions in particular. They state that his clearing of the temple of money changers was a temper tantrum and hypocritical considering his earlier sermons. They call him obnoxious for cursing the Fig Tree (an old Muslim attack upon the Deity of Christ), and they imply that it was an ungodly act for casting the demons into pigs. Some of these attacks are not new to a Pastor or an apologist, but the scurrilous, and reckless tone of these attacks are particularly jarring. (They wouldn’t dare disrespect Mohammed.)

Couple of points:

1. Neither the Bible or Jesus teach against anger. Our Lord preached against sin. This is particularly unfair for the male host of the Think Tank. He is a martial arts practitioner. He understands the concept of controlled aggression. Jesus didn’t “lose it”. Jesus taught us even while He purged the temple. He taught us to not play money games with His Fathers Business.

2. The male host stated, “What’s wrong with selling some animals.” I hope he was joking. John Iadarola is not a stupid man. You would think he would have done some research before making a comment like that. The money changers weren’t just selling animals. They were selling salvation. They were taking advantage of travelers who needed sacrifices during their pilgrimage. Instead of loving their brothers, they were using religion to capitalize on one another.

3. The cursing of the fig tree was not an arbitrary or capricious act. The fig tree symbolized the Nation of Israel. Jesus knew that it was not Israel’s time to fully blossom, but He still expected them to have more fruit than what they had. The barrenness of the fig tree would become the barrenness of Israel.

4. The secular couple on the Think Tank speaks about the cuteness of pigs that they have seen in Santa Monica The Nation of Israel though had a different idea of pigs. They didn’t view them as food. They viewed pigs as living trash cans. The pigs ate the filth. Many doctors who have studied biological design are fascinated about how pigs were designed not for food but for consuming waste. Jesus casting unclean spirits into pigs wasn’t animal cruelty. Jesus was just using the pigs for the purpose that they were designed. (Disclaimer: That doesn’t mean that in the New Testament that we have to be legalistic with our food choices.)

Here is where I feel sorry for the producers of the Think Tank and their parent show, The Young Turks. Their base audience is made up of militant atheistic progressives. If they are pleasant or even fair to Christians, they lose their “hits” and subscriptions. So now they make their living from being distant and critical to God. They are monetarily trapped in the worst place. Understandably this gives typically reasonable, logical and thoughtful people on every other issue, a very hard hearted and narrow-minded perspective.

Who knew that hating God and His Son could become such a cottage industry?
