I woke up the other day feeling very under the weather. The first thing that came into my mind was the word, "purgatory". Talk about feeling grim right? That was just the beginning. As usual, I was getting late for my Monday morning class. So when I got out of my house, I saw a black hearse parked right across the street. I thought it was odd. I paid no further attention to it. Then I began to cross the street. And BAM! out of nowhere, this car came speeding towards me. It seemed like the driver had no intention of stopping. I ran as if there was no tomorrow.
Oh God! I thought that I was going to die that day. That was not the end of my bad luck. I ran to catch my bus. But the kind bus driver thought that I was waving at him when I was actually signalling him to stop the bus. So all he did was wave at me and he continued to drive away.I am not a runner so I was panting as if I was taking my last breath. I failed to realize that there was another person waiting at the bus stop. I was so embarrassed that I could have died on the spot.
Consequently, I got on the bus. After a while, I saw yet another white colored hearse. I thought to myself that I might just die today. I mean look at all the signs! I was beginning to feel paranoid. Then there came an older lady. She took a vacant seat next to me.She took a book out of her bag and removed her bookmark.
There it was! The Teddy Bear Bookmark! There were couple of teddy bears who were chasing one another. It looked absolutely adorable. I did not even realize that I was smiling to myself like an idiot. It literally made me feel lighter. It is hard to describe that feeling with words alone. I mean think about it. Who would like to think about their mortality early in the morning? On a Monday morning. Not me!
Then I just had an AHA! moment. Sometimes even the tiniest, and the most insignificant thing has the ability to alter someone's mood drastically in a matter of seconds. From that point on, I have decided that I will keep my eyes open so that I can see these simple things to make this short life of mine more memorable. It has been five days and I have realized that I am much happier now than I was five days ago.
