I passed with revisions. :) thanks everyone for coming along on the journey with me. just a few revisions and then we will be done.

hi everyone. I will soon be retiring the use of my thesising hashtag. that is because I will be done thesising! I'm not sure if I'll ever write another thesis again, or if I may use the hashtag while editing my papers for publishing. but I'm really excited to move on to the next chapter of my life, which may use a different tag I have yet to discover! the thesising tag has been a lovely companion for the past few years, and as the last line in my acknowledgements section goes, my thanks and love to agricultural science.

In Ezra this is less explicit than in Ezekiel, yet the image of the obscene and tainted women that Ezra relies on also contains that internal fantasization about just what those activities might be. To parallel it with the modern day, you might see transmisogynists on social media going on about how trans woman are repulsive fetishists who must be getting off on being turned into a woman and parading it around in front of normal people all day. But these accusations betray the fact that they have conjured a mental tranny homunculus doing obscene acts in their brains all the time, plaguing them with sexual thoughts about trans women.

Enoch himself as an individual is also depicted as having been hidden, so that “none of the sons of men knew where he was hidden, or where he was, or what had happened (12:1)” to be prepared from when he would be revealed to the Watchers and commissioned by the deity to write the information he is provided and understands down. So, as Enoch is unique as a scribe with a special relationship with the deity among all the humans who are designed to understand, perhaps the scribes who composed the Book of the Watchers wished to depict themselves — as those having access to the words of Enoch and being able to report them — as the most correct and special scribes with the best access to hidden knowledge and therefore whose positions on political issues of their time were sanctioned by the deity. The dispensing of wisdom in BW is even connected to transgression and righteousness. In 5:4 Enoch begins to address a “you” composed of “sinners”, who have “changed their works”, and have transgressed by not observing the law of the deity, and so will be cursed and all that sort of thing for eternity. But the chosen will be given wisdom and never transgress again, and inherit the land. If the prelude to the narrative of the Watchers themselves concerns the perfect order of the cosmos by which all things are unchangingly operating according to ordained mechanisms, but which these sinners are flouting by transgressing the law, creating chaos in the cosmos; and the illustrative narrative of the Watchers is about them transgressing cosmo-geographical, metaphysical, and intellectual boundaries by descending to the land, copulating with mortal women, and disseminating unauthorized secret knowledge, thus disordering the cosmos; that this indicates that the narrative of the Watchers is necessary to understanding what exactly the indicted transgressors in the introduction to BW have transgressed, and indicates that it lays in what the composers of the text considered illicit intermarriage.
