A couple wildflowers in our breeding program up top and various early spring flowers I've seen on campus lately. Photo 1 is Thermopsis and photo 2 is Helenium (the wildflowers). Photo 3 is a deep purple crocus, Photo 4 is winter aconite, and Photo 5 is a lighter purple crocus with lots of siberian squill interspersed.

A plant from Alaska and Siberia Thermopsis lupinoides was creating some early summer colour and a nectar and pollen source for the bees. This herbaceous perennial grows from a rhizomatous rootstock but is clump forming and not as invasive as other Thermopsis species. This plant is useful for a well drained soil in a sunny location.
