Whats your opinion on Oxford commas
To answer Vampire Weekend's question: I give a fuck about an Oxford comma.
Look, if you've got a list comprised of three or more items, you're gonna want an Oxford comma to avoid confusion. It just makes sense, okay!! Using an Oxford comma to make the list item A, item B, and item C is a lot less confusing than if you excluded it to make the list item A, item B and item C!! Look at that!! That makes it look like items B and C are one thing, not two!! It pisses me off, okay!! If you want to make yourself clear, use an Oxford comma!!
If I asked someone to grab three things that are in separate places, I would phrase it like, "Can you please grab the pens, the pencils, and the highlighters?" If I excluded the Oxford comma, it would make it seem like the pencils and the highlighters are in a similar area, because they appear to be a single item on the list. This could cause confusion, which we want to avoid! With the Oxford comma, the recipient of the list knows they are in separate places, and won't spend extra time looking for something that isn't there. It's just common sense.
ohhhhghhhggggghhhhh *thinks about minecraft*
“She was too short...she was too old...”
Maria had interviewed dozens of potential brides for Xander. The ones who stood out would be invited to an upcoming ball and actually get a chance to meet him. Strangely, Xander had been absent in all of the planning so far.
“She was not pretty enough,” she put another sheet of paper into a rejection pile. “This girl, she was TOO pretty. Recipe for disaster!”
“And I’m not even halfway through. This will be harder than I anticipated...”
i think a lot about marcus’ time in st aquinas and like as a general disclaimer ... it’s a rough time in marcus’ life to, essentially be low enough to let himself be walked into a recovery center? he’s grieving, he’s unhappy, he’s pushed into a settling that he’s not used to, he’s stranded and very powerless
and st aquinas isn’t inherently a bad place i don’t think, regardless of simon’s presence there. and just ... i want it to be clear that marcus is disparaging of st aquinas and everything that comes with it - medication, routine - because he’s having a hard time, not because either myself or marcus believe those things are bad
recovery centers do important stuff when run by the right people so yeah
i just wanted that clear!!!
