Dance by the perfect me
Next we have @deerhoof's 9th album Friend Opportunity and its first track The Perfect Me. A funny story about this album: at the concert, this guy kept on shouting out "Friend Opportunity!", even after they had already played their selections from Friend Opportunity. Satomi explained to the concert-goer that that was an event that had already occurred and he therefore had somehow missed it. #Deerhoof #JohnDieterich @SatomiMatsuzaki @EdRodriguez @GregSaunier #FriendOpportunity #ThePerfectMe #Polyvinyl #PolyvinylRecords
The Perfect Me
A perfect me...what would he look like?
I believe the only metric to live life by is personal happiness - and all other metrics, whether they be personal relationships, money, family, or health - are all ultimately meant to funnel into a terminal happiness pathway.
This is not to confuse this life philosophy with hedonism. For hedonism implies short term happiness, which is often uncorrelated with long-term and sustainable happiness. In many cases, the highs of hedonism result in only mildly positive net happiness, or even unhappiness. So what makes me happy? And what would the perfect me do to maximize happiness? Let’s begin!
