Hosts: Omidyar Network India As COVID-19 wipes away years of developmental progress in weeks, charcha2020 was a platform for all stakeholders to discuss concrete strategies for development work going forward. Property rights is an often overlooked means of inclusive empowerment for Indian citizens. This event focused on how ensuring an Indian’s citizen’s access to secure land, property and safe housing should be a critical aspect of post-Covid developmental work. The event showcased the views of diverse stakeholders including government officials, academia, nonprofit leaders, grassroots organizations, journalists and technology experts. Specific panel discussions and fireside chats focused exclusively on the property rights of vulnerable populations including women, small and marginal farmers and scheduled tribes.

Host: Centre for Social Impact and Philanthropy Civil society plays an important role in advancing India’s sustainable development goals and contributes significantly to its economy. To fulfil its potential, the social sector needs vital infrastructure support — including a platform to exchange insights on best practices, successful social projects and harness the power of collective action. Also needed are fundamental regulatory reforms that improve the ease of doing good.
