Hello roamers! {wanted to call you guys as roamers for now hehe}

I’m currently working on a K-pop–inspired theme based on BABYMONSTER, but I feel like the aesthetic isn’t quite there yet, so I’ll be cancelling this for now 🥲

Let me know what you think though — should I continue working on it, or would you still be interested in using this theme as is?

I’ll be putting the theme codes on hold for now. Here’s the supposed preview so far 👀✨

Bonus: I’ve also been drafting a Ghibli-inspired theme 👀 It’s not quite where I want it yet (feels like it needs more whimsy/magic?), so I’m still debating if I’ll release it. If you’d actually use a Ghibli theme, tell me!! Might give me the push to finalize it 😌

All that's left to do now is style the posts better as I believe they still have some visual issues I don't quite vibe with, work on permalinks and custom pages AAAND design some more visual assets. Maybe.

Well, it’s coming close to the end of the year and it’s time to show off some recent personal projects i’ve been doing.

I’ve recently been having some problems with my sideblog, Thealonic. A lot of the “Win98″ theme I was using was either completely jank or having issues. I did try to polish it up and do adjustments to the HTML to make images wrap properly, but regardless of my work, the theme is generally flawed and underdeveloped so over the past week i’ve just decided to redo it.

Even though it’s the similar kinds of design and vibes, trust me, it’s a completely different backend from the ground up in both the CSS and HTML department. It’s basically a complete rewrite. Although I am using a basic html sheet for things such as animated buttons or simplistic title bars, there’s still so much work I’ve had to do to make both the theme AND Tumblr behave properly.

Either way, the progression on the overhall is going SUPER well and the time investment has been very worthwhile, so I’m sharing it here.

I do think the NPF object is still a prototype so it’s likely not to work in some cases. I’ve had an issue already with one post that broke the NPF object. I’ve contacted Tumblr about it but they’ve ignored me - just like them really. 

I don’t know how many of my followers here are theme developers but in case there are I thought I would make a little post about theme development.

It recently came to my attention that Tumblr is working on this new post editor that I think is tied to the “Neue Post Format” and that apparently it creates a bit of complication for those who don’t really know JavaScript very well.

I thought that I would announce that for any of those who are interested I’ve been developing a library in my spare time to simplify the development process. Depending on how much JS you know the library can be quite versatile and still enables you to define how post types can be laid out. I wrote a pretty basic interpolation class in which a developer can define their own “blocks” and “values” as I’m calling them when instantiating the library object.

I’m calling it Paradigm. Before the Paradigm instance is called each post is pushed to an array. With each array push an object with properties relating to the post is included - these will be prepared for interpolation once the the library is instantiated and the render method is called. A “block” will be indicated by: {! block:start !} {! block:end !} While a value will be indicated by: {? value ?}

I’ve been developing my library (Paradigm) and adding more features to it - I have not released it yet, still a bit of work to do, plus I identified a bug on Tumblr’s part with the NPF object breaking out of script tags.

2 new things:

I have removed the use of blocks:  {! block:start !}{! block:end !} instead {? value ?} is doing all the hard work as these two different things did do exactly the same thing.

I have added logic blocks:

If logic block:

{% if value %} do stuff {% endif %}  logic blocks cannot be nested at the moment and are very simple, they’re not intended for complex operations.

Each logic block:

{% each {? value ?} as {? val ?} %}
