Hundreds of thousands of people are trying to figure out what it means to join a movement. If we demonstrate that to be a part of a movement, you must believe that people cannot change, that transformation is not possible, that it’s more important to be right than to be connected and interdependent, we will not win. If our movement is not serious about building power, then we are just engaged in a futile exercise of who can be the most radical.

Trump’s Muslim Ban Executive Order
Edit: the title of this post has been changed from “Trump’s Refugee Executive Order” to “Trump’s Muslim Ban Executive Order” as the original intent and target of Trump’s EO was specifically a Muslim ban, according to Rudy Giuliani.Â
Crowds gathered outside of a federal court in Brooklyn, NY where Federal Judge Ann M. Donnelly of the Eastern District of New York Courthouse ordered an emergency stay for those effected by the executive order that, according to the NYT, “suspended entry of all refugees to the United States for 120 days, barred Syrian refugees indefinitely, and blocked entry into the United States for 90 days for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.”
Because the work isn’t done yet!

I had the pleasure of meeting a very smart, ridiculously talented woman tonight. Her name is Cass and these are her thoughts on Trump and the times in which we live.Â
Me: So tell me again what you think of this whole Donald Trump thing?
DaRealCass: I think it’s what we need for this country. It’s bringing everybody together instead of separating us which is a great thing. So, unite as one because there’s only one race and that’s the human race.
Me: And you’re saying that as someone who is, black…
DaRealCass: Black, a woman, and gay. We’re all uniting, and we need to unite as one because there’s more of us - there’s more power in the people than there is people with power.
