pt.1 [pt.2] [pt.3] 

Ten and S!M dolls are sitting in deck chairs on a raised wooden dock overlooking a lake. M has a book and Ten is using tongs to tend a barbecue with burgers and kebabs on it.

they’re eating the giant burgers in buns. ten’s has lettuce etc. on it but M’s doesn’t.

Ten is patting their stomach (“so full!”) while M tidies up the grill and the picnic materials.

Ten: “it was below freezing last new years, but today it’s so nice out.” 

M: “well, i’m still cold.” he gets a blanket that he puts around his legs, rubbing his right knee. 

this photostory uses my old half-TARDIS (the front half, of course) that i got second- or third-hand from a doll buddy on fb, with a bunch of printed-out posters and things stuck to it ‘haphazardly’.  there are the classic VOTE SAXON [X] posters and then over them are some contemporary-ish protest stickers, like against brexit or trump, pro-refugee, ACAB, that sort of thing.  

there is a dirty grey brick wall behind the TARDIS. on the door that opens is a letterbox slot with a worn, weathered card below it with the names “J. Smith” and “H. Razor”. maybe they’ve been ‘parked’ here for some time. it’s not a busy street with passers-by, more like one of those alleys or lots that the TARDIS prefers to land in. (i really should have put some rubbish around but tbh i forgot)

Tenth Doctor (standing outside the TARDIS): hey, Master, come have a look at this?

Simm!Master (peeks one eye out the door): huh?

Ten: someone seems to have vandalised your vandalism

S!M (comes out the door, trying to look bewildered): how could you accuse me of that?! my dignity is dealt a mortal blow! i would NEVER--

Ten: i'm sorry... but... do you really think anyone else has kept a stack of VoteSaxon posters for sentimental reasons?!

S!M: ...i would NEVER hang posters CROOKED. don’t you know me at all?!

Bill Potts appears and takes in the situation: oh nice! look, Razor, there's already some great protest stickers over the posters you put up when you were drunk after the xmas party... (S!M is grasping his hair in an OH CRAP sort of gesture, behind her)

Bill (putting her hands up to her face):  Oops!! (Ten and S!M are already sort of trying not to smile, especially not at each other)

Bill: I mean... fkn London, yeah?  Ten and S!M: yeah, fookin London!

Bill (waving): i'm off to work, seeya next time! S!M (waving): give my regards to UNIT.  Ten (with one arm round S!M, either protectively or restrainingly, lbr it’s probably both): NO, REALLY, DON'T.

M lies on his side in the sofa with his head on a pillow and his feet up. he’s got Ten′s cardigan over him and is holding his chest and stomach areas with clenched hands. his shirt has **CK YOU printed on the front -- we can’t see the whole phrase because Ten has their hand over the first letters. they’re bending down over him, and we can see that their shirt has angel wings printed on the back. “how’re you doing? are you okay?” “do i look okay?!” (in case there were any doubt, he does not)

M has rolled over with his head into the pillow, one hand underneath his stomach to clutch the cardigan around him, and the other hanging limply to the floor. his shirt, partly obscured by its own hood this time, has **CK OFF printed on the back. Ten, ‘wings’ and all, is sort of tiptoeing off the way they came.  “sorry!” “uergh”

in the last picture you can’t see either of their shirts’ logos. M has a bigger, warmer blanket draped over him. Ten is sitting quietly with their back to the sofa, reading one of M’s books. M is still on his stomach, gripping the pillow in front of him; trying various positions, can’t get comfortable. he leans his head on Ten’s shoulder. he’s still miserable, but at least he’s not alone, and the murmur of their mind as they read to themself is somehow soothing...

ten is wearing a green wool jumper and jeans, and s!m is wearing a burgundy satin coat (thanks @dollsahoy!) that he may or may not have nicked from twelve and his usual TARDIS key. he has his wristwatch (for timeblindness) and his cane also, because we’re renegade timelords, why should we have stigma for disabilities?!

they are leaning into each other with something approaching happiness; ten looks protective and s!m looks oddly hopeful.

bonus closeup: 

those have been in the back of my mind for ages!

guess whose supermarket trolley is full of veg, healthy things, toothpaste, tea, and 2 massive pots of vegemite? (ten’s)

...and whose contains cleaning products, coffee, snacks, chocolate, and meat (which he shouldn’t have because he can’t digest it well anymore, but he snook it in under the icecream)? (M’s)

PS: we know as well as he does that you always have to buy extra biscuits because the Doctor WILL eat them when nobody's looking

missy is a handy name so that gomez!master doesn’t have to be called “the master” by companions, but i’ve never liked the feeling of the new nickname. so in my AU she’s gone back to Max, which is both gender-ambiguous and a wink at the old pseudonyms from the delgado era. 

first pic: M leans heavily on her purple umbrella. she’s so tired. ever since the doctor regenerated, things just keep happening left and right. it’s alright for some people, so full of new life energy they’re still bouncing off the walls... still, the doctor is aware enough to be concerned. 

2nd pic: thirteen puts their arm around M. ‘we’ve got each other again. you don’t have feel overwhelmed alone.’ the doctor is warm, and solid. she leans into their hug this time.

tenth doctor is dressed as superman and simm!master is dressed as batman. the costumes are from other dolls and don’t quite fit right (loose on Ten and tight but too long on s!m), so it kinda looks like they bought them in the halloween store. s!m carries his belt and bat-cowl in one hand.

at first we see s!m is limping, his free hand gripping his knee, and ten looks back and reaches out their hand.

then we see ten supporting s!m with one arm around him, and he’s holding on to their shoulder, trying not to put much weight on his bad leg.

because sometimes even geniuses don’t do the smart thing. he didn’t use his cane tonight, because ‘authenticity’, and he just wanted to go out and do something normal for once. fuck pain, tbh.
