I give you Derek Hale because... hot damn!
I LOVE YOU FOR GIVING ME DEREK HALE.
What they smell like: As casual and not that preppy kind of a guy as he is, Derek is just too smooth and badass not to wear a cologne. So I think that he does use some, something with a scent thatās strong but not in a tacky, way, heās actually subtle with it, in a way that youād only be able to fully sense all the pieces of the scent if youāre within a couple of inches near to him; fitting to his personality, itās both as mysterious as he is, in the aspect that you only sense certain shades of the scent until you get really close to him, and in the aspect of the very scent being both masculine, strong and yet very calm, wild and yet elegant in a way, seductive but controlled. And, since my headcanon is also that he spends a lot of his time outdoors, whether itās fighting and serious pack business or something more relaxed such as exercising or get a bit of solitude in the woods, I think that this smell, that typical fresh air and trees type of smell, mixes with his cologneās scent in a very wild, delicious sort of way.
How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): I think Derek falls asleep in a very careless, flat on his back sort of a way. But his loneliness and even fear somewhat transcend to the surface as he sleeps, so his pose usually progresses to a curled on the side, clutching at the sheets, hands and face buried in the pillow sort of a pose.
What music they enjoy: an equal amount of rock and something on the verge of techno; with rock, he prefers hard rock, something with a lot of cleverly placed bass and drums, even a lot of bands which enter a more nu metal type of a genre, and, as far as his latter preferred type of music goes, he basically likes anything with a strong, intense, uplifting beat to it. This especially suits him when heās working out. However, Iāve also thought that Derek, secretly, has a very distinct taste and preference for classical music as well. And, as a contrast to the formerly described music, he prefers only the more melodious, somber, mellow sounding compositions, mainly made for piano.
How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Derek is a practical guy. Heās not a sleepy head and, once heās awake, heās awake, not the type of a person to lay about his bed for half an hour before he gets up. A ten minute shower, another ten minutes to brush his teeth, briefly style his hair and get dressed, occasionally (meaning very rarely) shave, if heās really up for it, and heās ready to go.
Their favorite thing to collect: He doesnāt like to collect things, anymore. He doesnāt want to tie himself down to anything, not even a collection, because heās afraid that if he has to move on to another flat, another city, another lifestyle, anything, heād have to leave this all behind. Heās done so countless times before so collecting stuff no longer holds sentimental value to him, nor does he hold interest for it. Or at least he prefers to keep it that way. When he was younger, though, I bet that he was a huge basketball fan and collected a whole lot of those basketball player cards and whatnot. His parents and uncle also had a large collection of old rock music records from various famous hard rock bands from the 70ās and 80ās, so I think he might have tried snatching and collecting a few of those as well, which also helped in developing his taste in music.
Left or right-handed: from some reason, maybe because Derek is different from most other people in so many ways that maybe heās different even in this one, I always thought heās a left-handed person.
Religion (if any): atheist, an agnostic maybe, but he never thought much of religion, that stuff seems ridiculous to him. When he was younger, though, he held a lot of interest, if not belief, in his momās ancestorās faith. And his mom, judging by her appearance, might have had quite a lot of native American blood running through her veins and, in respect to her ancestors, she still cherished and appreciated some of their habits and small rituals, often telling Derek about a lot of their legends and tales of guiding spirits. To this day, this is still the type of religion that he upholds the most, even if he doesnāt fully believe in it.
Favorite sport: basketball, definitely basketball.
Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): not that he makes this seem too apparent, and itās really something very subtly seen behind a lot of his other traits and actions in the show so far, as it is with a lot of his other hidden traits, Derek is actually a really curious person. So heād probably slip away from any tourist group, or tourist guide, even if heās somewhere with his pack or his friends, and go explore on his own. Heās also as brave as a bear and especially likes quietly investigating abandoned, secluded stuff which most people just take pictures of and then proceed to steer clear from it. I mean, the guy lived in his half broken, half burnt down, completely vulnerable to the attack of anything former house for more than a year. A pile of ruins or an abandoned cottage would be of no big challenge for him to peek into.
Favorite kind of weather: heās flexible, able to get by in whatever the forecast brings that day. Though he does, contrary to the popular guess of Derek being a huge rainy, gloomy days fan, appreciate the sunny weather very much. It still cheers him up as much as it did when he was a kid because he can go, or even sleep if necessary anywhere while the sun is up since itās usually warm and dry on days like this. However, if he does have a shelter of some sort during its fall, he also likes snow quite a bit.
A weird/obscure fear they have: I actually love to think that Derek is afraid of clowns and has been since he was a kid. Itās another thing that contrasts his rough exterior, so the thought of Derek going all tense and shaky at the sight of an innocent pale faced, red nosed man seems really amusing to me. Not that I donāt agree that someĀ clowns really are creepy as shitā¦
The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: he aces any game that focuses on physical skills, ability and agility in any way. From climbing stuff, to hitting stuff, heās sure to beat whoever runs against him, even if he competes with another werewolf. Heās the worst at games of chance, though. The guy just doesnāt have luck with anything from women and people in general, to winning a simple coin toss gameā¦ I just gave myself feels over Derek not being able to win a carnival game of chance, lovely.
