3 months. 3 months since you snuck out to Beeâs. 3 months since you laid with Erwin. 3 months since you had given away your virginity. 3 months.
Since then (Y/N) experienced fatigue, heartburn, mild sickness, and weight gain. She knew she was pregnant. Her maid, Elise, knew. Figured it out before she did. Of course she did, Elise helped (Y/N) get dressed and bathe. (Y/N) was in denial, that's why she ignored the signs. The man that she loved, still loves, hates her. The only reason she finally confronted the fact that she was indeed pregnant, was because of her fatherâs council. The Kingâs council. (Y/N) knew that if the world found out, she would be shunned. She would keep the identity of the father a secret but she would be hated by all, and possibly hated even more by Erwin too. Heâd probably call her a whore, slut, having a bastard child and all. Possibly calling his own child a bastard as well. Without even realizing it.
If the council found out. If the council found out. She would not be dead, but her child, and Elise. They would be killed. Shunned as a whorish princess, too reckless, uncontrollable. Her child would die for being a bastard. Elise would die for âconspiringâ against the King. Going against her sworn duties of taking care of the princess- making sure she wouldnât do something as foolish and reckless as getting pregnant. Elise, in the eyes of the council, would have failed her duties. Needing to be stripped of all titles and hung for her failure. Usually they would just be stripped of titles, the guards or maids,- but to have something so disgraceful as a bastard child befall the only princess, the sole heir to the kingdom. Oh, poor Elise.
âYour grace?â Elise softly called out to the princess. (Y/N) had gotten lost in her thoughts about all of it. She was lost. She had no idea what to do. Sitting at the balcony outdoor lounge area. She turned her head and looked at Elise.
âYes, Elise?â Her voice was strained from not talking a lot. She hadnât left the castle since the last time she met Erwin. Too afraid to run into him again. Even if he spent more time in the lower districts. She didnât want to run the risk of being seen by him so she stayed in the castle. Not interacting with so many people like she did before, (Y/N) had strained her voice because of it.
She dreaded staying in the castle. So many pompous oafs, Erwin was correct on that account. So many secrets to keep. Luckily she had Elise by her side. It was a relief off her chest to tell Elise. (Y/N) didnât have the choice to keep it from her. She couldnât. Elise helped dress her, helped bathe her, literally did everything with and for her. She was her best friend.
Elise came closer to the lounge area and kneeled beside the princess.
âMayâŚ.May I suggest something to your highness. Something toâŚhelpâŚprotect the people.â (Y/N) knew she meant the babe. They had to be careful about what they said. Too many spies, too many ears.
âOf course.â (Y/N) of course was desperate to save her child. She always wanted to be a mom. Even if the babe was considered a bastard, or Erwinâs, she still loved it. And besides, a procedure to get rid of the baby was painful, could almost cause death for the mother, and special toxins didn't exist. After so many soldiers were needed to fight the titans every single toxin that would kill future soldiers was abolished.
âWhat ifâŚthe soldiers had a safe place to relax and recuperate. To gather their strength, a safe haven.â (Y/N)âs eyes sparked at the idea.
âDo you know of such a place?â (Y/N) hoped that she did. Why else would she tell her of this? A trap? Please, no. She had already been through enough. (Y/N) contradicted this thought: sheâs my friend- she thought. Besides she could have told the King or council a lot sooner, and if she did- well she would have died. She thought to herself.
Elise nodded her head. Too afraid to speak in case someone overheard.
âI can show it to you tomorrow. For inspections of course. So it is up to your standards.â
âOf course, weâll set out tomorrow.â

After a very long horseback ride during the night, they finally made it. Elise opened the door for (Y/N) to reveal the inside of the cabin contained: a fireplace, a small kitchen with a dining area, and two more doors.
âI know itâs not much, but I donât think the guards will search some place soâŚdifferentâŚfrom the royal palace.â
âNo, no it's perfect! I love it, thank you. You have done so much for me Elise.â She took off her cape and thanked Elise, hugging her.
âAnytime princess! Besides, you're my favorite one!â Elise smiled at (Y/N). They both laughed.
âI am the only one! And call me (Y/N) or Raven, since ya knowâŚwe're in hiding.â She sat down on the couch finally.
âI think Iâll stick with (Y/N), you are stuck to this house after allâŚalsoâŚâ Elise trailed off. Shaking her head as if to dismiss the thought.
âAlso?â (Y/N) suggested for her to continue. Elise slightly grimaced with a small frown and continued.
âWellâŚwe will be gone for 5 to 6 months. Technically not long enough for a pregnancy, butâŚif you show up with a babe in your armâŚtheyâll know (Y/N).â Elise had grabbed the back of the couch now and looked at the princess to see her reaction.
âIâŚâ (Y/N) fumbled with her hands, âI guess, I didnât really realize that until now.â She stopped talking and stared at the floor. Sheâll have to give them up. Give up her babe. She couldnât even spend a day past the plan that was set for her. That would ruin the plan. They would be separated so soon. A mother and child separated, forcefully, resentfully, but knowing that it will give her child a fighting chance. âWhat about you Elise?â (Y/N) turned her head towards the girl, âHow will you stay safe.â
âI will stay with the babe for a while. After it cools down when you get back, alone. Then I will give them to loving families.â Elise sighed shakily. She was nervous. They both were.
Alone. (Y/N) thought. Sheâll have to return alone. Take her punishment alone. The last time she had been punished by her fatherâŚthe last timeâŚshe couldnât lay down on her back for a week. It could have been longer if they had been deeper, the guard had taken pity on her. She wasnât alone with the pain from the lashings. She had Elise. But nowâŚnow she would be alone, and she was terrified.
âHey,â Elise softly pushed her shoulder, and (Y/N) turned to look at her. âRight now. Right now is what you need to focus on. You have your babe- safe. You have me- you are not alone. You are safe.â (Y/N) smiled up at her friend. Elise always knew what to say.
âThank you Elise.â
âOf course, princess.â
â(Y/N)!!â (Y/N) pointed her finger at Elise as if to scold her child.
âOf course!â She held up her hands in surrender. They both laughed at one another. Settling into a new home.
