Touchstone II / As with most things worth doing, beginning was the hardest part. days turned weeks into months, pouring over books and making time to listen. A rodeo of doubt, uncertainty, fear, paralysis; hope, humor, ideation and hard work. conversations with old timers who knew the woods, with friends and family who had built in the area, with folks who knew the land, and folks who knew trees - and how to build in them. as time passed and friends and family joined in both the dreaming and the work, I realized it was not about a structure. and that a home is not made of walls. home is about people and land, connection and rootedness, a space to return, to learn and share and listen to the rhythms of heart and earth and be reminded of that which is worth remembering #thebackofbeyond #roll1 #35mm #leicam6 #kodak https://www.instagram.com/p/B71MkXZnF6P/?igshid=a6axfvhi9ojg
