If you think you can't sing, think again! Everyone can learn how to sing!

The misconception that you can't sing may have come from an early childhood memory. Maybe as a child you were singing away to yourself and someone says to you 'stop making that racket!', this instills in your brain that you can't sing, so you don't!

Singing is all about muscle memory and listening.

With training you can strengthen the muscles used for singing just as you would build muscles if you went to the gym!

Maybe start by joining a choir, singing together creates a safe atmosphere for you to learn and build your confidence. You may never feel the need to move on from this but if you do wish to sing solo, stay with the same group as they will support you and congratulate you once you accomplish your solo.

Theatretrain is a great environment for kids to develop their voices. We focus on the group rather than the individual creating a safe place for young people to explore their voice.

Our performances give them the opportunity to grow in confidence as a group but also give the opportunities for solos should our students wish to.

Theatretrain also makes its singing classes theatrical by adding characters, movement and strong attitudes. This means you can lose yourself in the performance and the fear of not being able to sing disappears!

(Incase you haven't heard, we took 3,500 kids and performed at the O2 Arena!! Where have you been!!)

Over the summer I've had time to reflect on the show and how amazing it was. This was the first time I performed with the students (for health and safety reasons). Usually I'm back stage ready to collect them from the stage. Great place to be as their faces are a picture!

The feeling was amazing. I sang my heart out and danced my cares away. I felt so free, confident and happy. My heart was racing and I was nervous and excited all at the same time. The kids stepped up to the challenge, the teachers and I were there for support, we never needed to lead them, they knew what to do and where to go.

3,500 kids at the O2 sounded daunting at the beginning, but once we were there it was anything but. We were surrounded by wonderful kids, everyone cheered everyone on. There was no competition or 'we're better than you' we were a family all working together.

Not many theatre schools can say that!

So now our cycle starts again, I know most people think, well you've done the O2 there can't be much more than that! Well we keep moving forward. Our currents students get a little bit more confident, take on new challenges inside and out side TT, new students join us and climb the ladder to our next large scale show.

This term we have been asked to perform at the Sunday Circus, a family event at Proud Camden on 13th October and a Christmas event is in the planning stages. Our local show next July will be at Jackson's Lane Theatre.

Sorry I've not posted in a while, the O2 Arena show was bigger than I could have imagined and it took up so much of my time and I guess I'm still learning how to blog!

So what's happening now I hear you ask?

Well we are having a bit of a change, you may notice we are now no longer Theatretrain Highgate but Theatretrain Camden. I decided to make the change as our venue was no longer in Highgate and we accept students from a much larger area.

We are also moving to the afternoon. This is to open up our classes to students who are already busy on a Saturday morning with other activities. I'm slowly getting the hang of social media, we are on Facebook, Twitter, Google + and  Instagram All with regular updates and fun things.

We also have a trip to perform at Disneyland Paris in May 2014!! For more information please see our website over the next few months.

I'm spending the Summer promoting Theatretrain for September and I will also blog more!!

We are now 2 thirds through our spring term and things are coming along nicely! We have schedules to stick to to make sure we get all the work done and so far we are doing very well.

This Saturday we are bringing the three groups together for the first time. We get so comfy in our 3 age groups sometimes it's nice to mix it up a bit.

As we are working as one centre rather than 3 groups in this show, we need to learn to work together. The 6-9's up there game because they want to be like the older kids and the older kids up their game as they know others are counting on them!

So Saturday, in dance we continued work on Saturday Night Fish fry!

This is a high energy dance and so far we had just worked on a section at a time, putting it all together was so much fun!!

We are really getting into this dance and putting it all together gave us a great sense of achievement. It's great to watch as each student gets the hang of these fun moves!!

Everyone came out of the session red faced and full of smiles!!

There is such a buzz about the place, these kids are going to have the time of their life and I'm so excited to take that journey with them!
