The common conception many have about art is to use your feelings in order to create. When you're hurt, in pain, etc, you constructively put it into your work, to supposedly guide and push you forward. Frequently, it does help and does the job it is set out to do. But, what if all the emotion one feels hinders the artist? What if, the hurt, the pain, etc, leaves you unable to make yourself vulnerable the way art needs you to be? Vulnerability pushes. It breaks barriers, inspires, creates. What if the hurt, the pain, etc leaves you so defensive that you are so incredibly unable to submit yourself despite wanting to?
