accidentally the cause of the revolution, which i should explain quickly here. so in japan in a lot of schools, having a hair color other than black is against dress code, and having frizzy non straight hair is too. you can either straighten and dye your hair, or you can get a doctor’s note giving you permission to have your natural hair. ema doesn’t want to change up their style, and ema is terrified of doctors, so they just continued going to school ignoring the rules. she kept getting in trouble, and their homeroom class decided to dye their hair funky colors to prove that they wouldn’t get distracted by “weird hair”. a lot of rich people went to the school, and the school didn’t wanna be sued, so they reluctantly allowed the students to dye their hair as long as it isn’t distracting.

really sad backstory, she was originally raised to be the family savior, but her parents saw how naturally untalented she was at school work, how little friends she had, and decided that kaoru was a lost cause.

when tomomi was born, the parents changed up their parenting style for kaoru. they had her assist in them making tomomi “perfect” and that her main goal was to insure that tomomi succeeds in life.

despite all that, she still loved her baby brother with her whole heart.

a couple years after her mom left, and tomomi was almost in highschool, kaoru and her dad knew that they didn’t have enough money for him to get into a decent collage. so kaoru and her dad made a plan to collect insurance money from kaoru’s suicide.

kaoru is just, really sad. she feels like a failure of a child. felt as if her “““sacrifice””” was a way to “““atone”““ for being a “““useless”““ person
