"The Missing Lady" by Demuja, Ainy https://spoti.fi/2V6oqd9
Outside, the world celebrated mothers. Â A day to bring tears of joy to many eyes as children and their mothers snuggled close thickening the parent and child bond. Â Â Â Spring bloom fresh flowers, the scent of perfumed gardens tickling noses of those who soaked up the warm air.
Inside, she moved her arm across her lap.  Her wrist raw from the cuff attached to the chain.  The stale air around her saturated by rotting corpses left as roommates in her cell.  Sylrissa was unsure of what day it was.  A day that she could have enjoyed as her first mother’s day.  Her daughter instead in another’s arms.  No one knew where the lady was or if she was even still alive.
In her confinement it was impossible to count the hours, she had no clue how long she had been down here.  Even the dead piled up in the corner decomposed at different rates than normal because of the runes all around her.  She couldn’t even use the dead to figure out how long it had been since she walked in freedom.
In vain she had tried to cover the runes that prevented her use of magic. Â The blood stolen from the bodies near her did nothing but smear red over the green glow. Â The once pristine priestess now a prisoner cover in blood and dirt. Â Hair knotted, twisted within itself pulling against her roots. Â The dress tailor made for her body torn down to tatter rags barely covering her skin.
Rest was fickle, it took over her mind at random but only when she slept did the food appear. Â Scared of the disease that might be on her own hands Sylrissa never even touched the food. She only touched the plates eating like an animal to prevent from catching whatever killed the others.
Today while mother’s enjoyed picnics and fresh food, Sylrissa sipped on old broth from a cup.  Her celebrate was living another day.  Her desire for life fading, but the thoughts of her daughter forced her to keep trying.  To live one more day in hopes to one day see Lily again.

“And I sometimes think that a moment of touching is the difference between complete utter despair and the ability to carry on.”
― Eleanor Cameron, The Court of Stone Children
A mother’s touch can soothe a child, a lover’s touch can stir the soul, and a stranger’s touch in frightful times can ease worry. Sylrissa’s hand reached through the bars, her fingers brushed Liandria’s arm, and the gesture brought comfort to the two of them.  They both still had life in them even if they had no clue where they were at.  All the knew was that they were both locked in separate cells waiting for the unknown.
After the small gesture of comfort was shared between the pair, he appeared. Â The air cooled around them, and a deep chuckle came from the death knight on the other side of the bars. Â Any warmth that had been, was no more. The rust that eroded the iron cell bars was now hidden behind a sheet of ice. Sylrissa knew of his kind, as she had been exposed to them several times, and her last two years were a gambit of life versus death. Â Hope was not lost, just silenced as they looked up at him.Â

The Cell : Part One
Tossed into a cell while asleep, she had no recollection of how she got here. It was not the first time she had experience in a dungeon. The household she grew up in had its own minor prison, her mother’s favorite place.  Only on special occasions such as holidays, birthdays, did Irali Ravenmourn take her four children down to the dungeons to show them mommy’s work.
Barely awake lying on the ground in her silk stockings and tattered dress Sylrissa found herself in staring up at the cell’s ceiling. She could not help but think of her childhood.  Never had she been on this side of the cell, but often she was lifted by her mother to peer inside at those who wasted away.
While the others ran and played through the dampen hallways the youngest Sylrissa always clung to her mother’s fingers scared of the cries.  She wanted to help those who mother claim unworthy.  She knew her mother would free them if she pleaded enough.   Yet she never did.
Sylrissa knew what happen in these cells, she would be traded off as a bargain chip or killed. Â There was no inbetween. Â Â Torture might come but what use was she to them? Â Who was it that even had her and why? Â Â Questions she had no answer to.
Did they find her? Was Lily safe?  The long hours spent alone in the darkness she pray for her child.  Her waking thoughts of the baby and the last thought before sleep.  The long hours between, her mind wander on how to escape.  The fallen guards haunted her, every time she closed her eyes the man’s detached head with sightless eyes shamed her.  Sylrissa would not let herself die her.  Could she kill those who brought her here? Would that bring her freedom? Or should she stay silent and obey? Â
Beside her a woman stir causing her to jolt up, the thoughts shaken away like a foggy cloud in her mind.  Another was here, she was not alone.  “Where are we?”  Sylrissa shrieked, her typical noble greetings tossed out the window.
The woman’s features were marred by soot and her shoulder-length, dark brown hair was disheveled. What remained of the finely tailored dress she wore was tattered and soiled by the dirty floor upon which she lay. Appearances gave way that she was of noble lineage, but her lipstick was smudged and her makeup was now worn. Judging by her appearance, she had been here for several weeks.
The woman’s hope was lost, Sylrissa could see the light that once shone in the lady’s eyes gone.  As the priestess tried to get information Lady Liandria Sunsong, her companion just a cell beside her.  It seem Liandria knew just as much as Sylrissa did, nothing at all.
In moments Liandria became her friend, a hope she held onto. Â They would escape this together.
