Ganon is Varian: he's kidnapped the Hyrulian King because fucker is a lil corrupt and has screwed over the Gerudo.

Link is the girl with black hair (plz don't yell at me I haven't actually watched the show I just know a couple songs because of Jeremy Jordan) : this where the au branching comes from. Link and Ganon are half brothers and Link was raised in Gerudo so Hyrule and most of the Champions don't trust him even though they have been close with the princess since they were children. He knows what his brother is doing is wrong and has tried to talk Ganon out of this qnd knock sense into him but Ganon is angry and grieving for other reasons and his magic is out of control qnd beginning to corrupt him.

So Link has had to join the other side so that he hopefully kind find away to HELP without killing his brother.
