That's not true at all tho?

The Grotesquery took way more effort, we just didn't get to see most of the effort bc it happened prior to the books. First they had to find an FO torso (which probably happened more by chance than anything else). Then they had to figure out which creature parts they need to complete it and fetch the creature parts, some of which can only be obtained during a certain time frame and one of which is the blood of an FO or Ancient which must have seemed impossible to obtain during phase 1. But with the phase 2 characters retconned in they had Serafina and her siblings whose blood they could use. And then they needed a super powerful necromancer to resurrect it.

Abyssinia just needed a Vitakinetic, a sunblast (I think) and some people whose life force she could snack on. The Unnamed just needed the corpse of a dead relative and the sunblast with his soul. That so much easier than the Frankenstein bullshit Baron had to go through to resurrect the Grotesquery.

Speaking off, weird experiments to bring back dead Gods sounds a lot more like Nef's thing than Baron's, especially since it's bordering on blasphemy. I totally headcanon Mev was the one to find the torso, it was Nef's idea to Frankenstein it and he was leading the project together with Nye. Baron was tasked with finding the parts they needed and sometimes the Diablerie would help him obtain them which is how they knew about the project. And it was Vile's task to resurrect it together with the Of The Unveiled siblings since Mev wouldn't agree to let Serafina do it alone. He'd actually prefer it if she wouldn't give her blood at all and leave it to her siblings in case things go wrong.

Baron was just the last one left who didn't die, run away or got captured, so he made it his task to hide the Grotesquery and eventually finish their team work once he had been freed from prison.
