okay so I know in the werewolf au jake and Ronnie are gonna stay together forever but would they ever do like an actual wedding.
Like let Ronnie wear a white dress have Pete (or Bradley or both) walk her down the aisle. Both packs together to celebrate
WEREWOLF MARRIAGE CEREMONIES LETS GOOOOOOO
thank you so much for sending this in lovey, I am simply bursting at the seams to talk about this after some discussion with @blue-aconite (Fe my werewolf love)
so, um, not exactly a traditional marriage ceremony if the gif gives anything away
I based this off of this^ ceremony from House of the Dragon cause uh....Big Sexy and also fit well with my vibes (but I changed a few things)
I like giving stuff in this universe latin names
so the wedding ceremony is called Foedus Aeternum, or covenant eternal promise
Foedus Aeternum needs to take place on the night of the crescent moon (something something symbol of fertility something something)
At the location of the Pack House/Den (so for Red Sky, in the middle of the woods, at the cave where Jake first turned!)
There are torches and the wolves from the pack are present, and if the Luna is from a different pack, that pack is also present
The Luna, if she's not a wolf, is brought to the ceremony on the back of her mate's second (but since Ronnie is technically from a different pack, Bradley brings her to the ceremony)
Traditionally the bride wears white, but the fabric can be decorated with her future pack's colors (for Ronnie, a bit of red)
The bride walks down the aisle alone, however, a symbol of that separation from her family/the pack that raised her.
And joins her mate who waits by a great bonfire (love a good bonfire)
They cut each other's palms and their hands are tied together, a symbol of their union and the joining of their bloodlines and the sheer weight of their covenant and promise to one another
the alpha and the luna memorize the traditional vows (which I haven't come up with yet don't come at me) before the ceremony, no one presides over this. it's just the two of them making this covenant with one another. The Moon Goddess is presiding technically I guess lol
they say those vows to each other, then they cut each other's bottom lip
this is more of a symbol of their unending love for one another and their connection through the mate bond
they kiss and taste each other's blood (and that is just cause it's hot as fuck)
so now TRADITIONALLY right after the ceremony, the alpha is supposed to take the luna into their Pack House/Den and consummate the marriage
with all the other wolves present
listening to everything and smelling everything
it is just important to werewolves that a bond is properly settled and that their alpha is full of virility and that their luna is satisfied. it's just important.
This consummation is supposed to be the first time the mated pair have sex, but that rarely ever happens these days
but anyway, there we go! the echo or the answer universe werewolf marriage ceremony! she do be dark, she do be slightly violent, she do be sexy.

I'm sorry you had such a sucky day today. 🥺 Hope my fluffy thoughts make you feel better! 🥰
I went back and reread basically everything under the Echo tag after reading the final chapter and now I have Alpha!dad Jake on the brain. ☺️
So I've just been thinking a lot about Jake holding each of their babies for the first time, especially when Maisie comes along. Like, you know Jake is a hands on dad with their first two, but when his first baby girl comes along??? Something in him just switches on and he becomes the ultimate girl dad. And yes, I was totally inspired by the tags you wrote on that one post!
(Side bar- you know Maisie, Aurora, and Delaney have the absolute highest of standards when it comes to men because they grow up with a dad that shows them how a man should treat the women in his life. They watched him treat their mother like an absolute queen and he treated them as his more than capable princesses. And you know he taught his boys the same thing.)
He lets Maisie cover his lunch box or coffee thermos with sparkling unicorn stickers because he knows how happy it makes her, he starts forming opinions on Disney princesses, he learns how to do her hair, he brings her (and Ronnie) little bouquets wildflowers because he loves the smiles on their faces when he does, he bakes cookies & cupcakes with her, they have daddy/daughter picnics/hikes/fishing days, he starts caring around extra hair ties & clips.
Basically, just girl dad Jake. 😭🥰
GIRL DAD JAAAAKKKKEEEEE
god, i've been wanting to talk about the kids some more and i can always count on you indy. you know i can talk about this family for days.
God, yes, Maisie changes everything for Jake. He's an amazing father. But fathering a girl is just different. I can just imagine the look on his face when the midwife announces it's a little girl. Ronnie is just like "ugh FINALLY". And when he holds her for the first time 🥺🥺
And all three of the girls are so different from one another!
Maisie - very quiet, thinks before she acts on anything, introspective, imaginative, and when she's older she is very interested in woodworking and making things with her hands like her dad!
Aurora - the sweetest of the three girls and straight up like a Disney princess. she likes to help around the house and pick flowers for her parents and rescue little animals she finds in the woods. she'll just randomly walk up to Jake with a little bird in her hand with a broken wing and look at him like "daddy fix him 🥺". Jake has had to learn some vet medicine rather quickly cause he can't let his little girl down.
Delaney - the absolute wild child of the family. she's loud, she likes to roll around in mud, wrestle any of her siblings, jump off of stuff, and run through the woods. she doesn't care about getting dirty and she doesn't care about getting hurt. she does it all with a bright smile and a huge laugh playing on her lips because that's what's fun to her.
and Jake definitely takes the time to spend with each of his kids individually. While group activities are fun, getting to spend quality time alone with dad without anyone else around is just special. I love that.
So you know me; I have more werewolf questions for you! Are some of the other Top Gun characters in this universe? Like some of the other daggers are in other packs or working in town? Are Cyclone and Warlock maybe police or park rangers? Or maybe even bosses at the lumber yards?
M !!!!! hey baby 💕 you know I always love and appreciate your questions. All the time. Forever. Now, as far as your questions go....
the other pilots from TGM/OGTG are probably like around but I've never really thought about where exactly they are (if that makes any sense. today was a long day lol)
trying to include everyone is just too much of a hassle and I wanted to focus more on story
sorry if one of the other pilots is your fav, but.....ya know
BUT ANYWAY
I love the idea of Cyclone and Warlock as the managers of the Marnmouth and Bellmoral lumber yards though.
Maybe Hondo as the sheriff lol (or possibly like the general store owner. i think I like that better.)
Jon Hamm definitely has the face of a dude that knows werewolves are real, but is chill enough to keep his knowledge to himself and also cover his workers' asses when they do weird shit
Warlock has no idea, and he's not from Washington, he just thinks everyone from up there is a little Off
*clears throat and opens my notebook* I have some questions about Christmas time during your werewolf au
1. Is Ronnie or Jake or both the type to go all out with the Christmas decorations??
2. Does Jake pick out and cut down the Christmas tree himself or do he and Ronnie pick one out together??
3. Is Christmas a joint celebration between red sky and blue river or do they do their own thing??
4. Do ronnie and Jake read the story ‘‘twas the night before Christmas to their kids on Christmas Eve?? (My parents used to do this for me and my brother and it’s one of my fondest memories)
Sorry for the spam of questions I just really love your werewolf au and Christmas is probably one of my favorite times of the year
oh don't be sorry!! I freaking love getting asks like this!! Thank you so much for sending it in, and I can't wait to talk about Christmas/Holiday time in The Echo Universe 🖤🐺
okay, so technically, werewolves celebrate a version of Yuletide, a twelve-day celebration that starts on the shortest day of the year
this is when the Moon Goddess is at her strongest, and it really is a celebration of her and all she's given. Lots of feasting, a gift is given each day, and it ends with a big sacrifice. basically the whole thing is werewolves being like "fuck yeah, the MOON, bitch!!"
so as born wolves in a pack lineage, the Bradshaws celebrate Yuletide instead of Christmas as like their main winter holiday.
but there are turned wolves in Blue River, so they always do something for Christmas as well!
and another thing we must also remember, is that Jake wasn't turned until he was like 30 - and then he was in Red Sky under Bellmoral's rule....so Red Sky really doesn't know much about werewolf traditions and celebrations
Ronnie is the one that brings all of that to them and lets them in on all of these centuries-old practices that they now get to take part in
but because Red Sky is majority turned wolves, Christmas is still important to them, so they celebrate both
ANYWAY all that to answer your questions lol let's get to it
Is Ronnie or Jake or both the type to go all out with the Christmas decorations?? - uh....neither? they don't go all out honestly. They just do the tree with mostly bulbs and a few sentimental ornaments, a wreath on the door, and then the candles in all their cabin windows. They just don't seem like the types to want to put out all that stuff only to put it away like a month later lol
Does Jake pick out and cut down the Christmas tree himself or do he and Ronnie pick one out together?? - they always pick out the tree together! bring the kiddos along, it's a whole day of fun! jake lets everybody have a turn with the saw and helping him cut the tree. they own a ton of property with beautiful evergreens so they just bring a sled out into the forest surrounding the cabin and pick a small one. ugh, so fun.
Is Christmas a joint celebration between red sky and blue river or do they do their own thing?? - so I would say that the Christmas celebrations are done separately with the packs, but they do the Yuletide celebrations together after like the first year that Ronnie is with Red Sky as Luna.
Do ronnie and Jake read the story ‘‘twas the night before Christmas to their kids on Christmas Eve?? - omg that's adorable 🥺 so yes!! it's something that Jake wants to do, because obviously that's not something that Ronnie grew up with. On Noah's first Christmas Eve he asks all shyly if they can read it to him, holding the copy he ordered online in his hands, and OH MY HEART. but as the gang of kiddos grows, they all pile up into Jake and Ronnie's bed to read it, and then jake and ronnie will sneak out once everyone's asleep to wrap the last few presents and spend some time just the two of them.

are the children homeschooled? do they go to public school? is there some kind of werewolf school that children of werewolves attend?
They just go to public school!
The schools in the county they live in are probably super tiny. I actually discussed with @blue-aconite today what extracurriculars the kids would be into funnily enough!
Noah plays baseball like his dad
Rhodes is in marching band, plays the drums
Maisie plays soccer
Beau feels like a debate team kid but he also plays baseball
Not the softest of thoughts but these questions just popped into my head:
1) Can Alphas only be male? And if so, what happens if an Alpha only has daughters? Who inherits the pack then after the Alpha dies?
2) What would happen if a pack's Luna is pregnant with their Alpha's first pup but then tragedy strikes and the Alpha dies before the pup is born and/or the Alpha dies before their heir is of age? (basically, what would have happened if Bradley had been a lot younger when Nick died or if Nick had died before Bradley was born)
I promise to send in some more softer ones to make up for these! ❤️
no no i love these questions indy!! i am always accepting questions like this, you know that 💕
Alphas can be male and female! And really, the passing on of Alpha power to a firstborn doesn't care about gender. It's just the firstborn child. Doesn't matter if they're male or female!
I actually have thought about this exact question while thinking up a very tragic au scenario (that ill probably never write...too sad...unless 👀). So, if a Luna is pregnant with an Alpha's first, or if the child is younger than 14 and therefore hasn't turned yet, and the Alpha dies....the Alpha power will go to the Luna until the firstborn is of age. Does that make sense? It's like....Queen Regent kind of thing lol
Random weekend ask for you: Could you please tell us more about the werewolf lore you've come up with for your werewolf AU? Like, in your AU, are there werewolves all around the world? If so, are there different pack traditions based on different countries cultures? Are werewolves more likely to be found in forested areas versus other types of climates? Are urban werewolves a thing? How common are relationships/marriages between members of different packs? Have any of those been for "diplomatic" reasons versus for love?
I just really love this AU and want to know everything about it! 😆
Okay so I had to take a moment to think on this cause some of these things I hadn't necessarily thought about before 😂 but I have some answers now!
so, @blue-aconite and I have talked about this a little bit and I'm kinda riffing off her own idea that she's using for her werewolf top gun fic (!!!)
But in my head, there are werewolf packs all over the world
some have been around for literally thousands of years
So in terms of like werewolf packs around the world, Blue River/Red Sky are relatively new at only a couple centuries old
but they are still two of the oldest wolf packs in North America
and yes!! depending on the country's cultures wolf packs have different traditions that are forged over time, though some basic things are similar between them because some things are just inherently important to all werewolves (ie mating stuff, pregnancy rituals, and accepting new pups into the pack)
They do tend to stick to more forested areas, some instinct about hiding from society but also because forests tend to be highly populated with creatures good for hunting!
So no I don't think there are any urban werewolf packs, simply because they need to keep a low profile and being in a crowded city means more eyes on them
I don't think it's super common for there to be marriages/relationships between members of different werewolf packs
mostly because there is a set number (idk the number just yet, I would need a map lol) and they're spread out across the different regions. Blue River and Red Sky are a bit of a rarity in their proximity to one another.
But the concept of arranged "political" marriage between packs is....fascinating to me....like wolf packs in a more medieval time?? now that is a CONCEPT that i think definitely HAPPENED but doesn't occur at all these days
So, in my head, every twenty years all the wolf packs around the world get together for a secret meeting where they discuss...stuff....idk laws and traditions and just general catch up like "who's your alpha now? how many members do you have?" i feel like somebodies gotta keep track of all that (does Ronnie dream about attending this meeting? yes. every day of her life).
It used to be to gather for this meeting the "Alpha Pack" aka the pack that has been around the longest and whose alpha is kinda the first and last say when it comes to laws and traditions, would send out a messenger to each of the other packs with info on where the meeting is taking place and when
now it's just an email, not as fun but I think it's kinda funny
thank you for asking questions my darling indy, always brings a smile to my face that someone is interested in this nonsense as much as me lol
