this is the original 1956 recording of this doo wop hit. in 1969, the dells rereleased a slightly extended and hevaily orchestrated soul version of 'oh what a night'. that time featuring johnny carter, the renowned falsetto vocalist of another famous group, the flamingos. the rerecording was also very successful and gave the dells a new period of fame during the 70s soul/motown era, a time they had a huge part in influencing.
