But the strangest thing is, the voices that speak to me aren't old friends or treasured loved ones, they belong to the people that live in my head. When I doubt which path to follow I hear Frodo telling me that I can't always be torn in two, that I must be one and whole for many years to come. I hear Dumbledore telling me that hope can be found in darkness if I only remember to look for the light. When I feel like I've made a terrible mistake and I fear never truly getting out of the pit of dread that has lived inside me for what feels like an eternity, Gandalf chuckles in my head in a voice very similar to Ian McKellen and tells me that all those who have lived to see such things wish they hadn't but that isn't the point, regretting the past will do nothing, all I can do is decide what to do with the time given to me. Sometimes the voices in your head can be a curse but sometimes they are the oldest and dearest friends you have. Everyone struggles and everyone hurts and if there is one thing I'm thankful for it's being given the chance to fight the bad days with wisdom and courage that was handed to me by brave souls who fought their battles and turned them into something beautiful.
