Hey, so I haven't been watching Thai bl for long and I don't follow the actors or see interviews for any of them much (Kinnporsche is an exception), but I have seen a ton of posts about fan service in other bls and how weird/cringy it is. I was curious to know what exactly it is. is it forced? is it a prevalent part of the bl industry? what exactly do they do? I haven't seen any fan service for anything, so I was wondering what it looked like and what the fandom/cast have had to deal with
Fan service is essentially during the series promotion and afterwards at fan events and stuff the leads are encouraged (sometimes forced by their agencies) to act like a real couple for fans (like being coached on how to answer leading questions and being physically intimate with each other in front of literally hundreds of people) to keep the series going in the real world. Now obviously this can cause issues between not only co-stars but also in their personal lives because they aren't allowed to say whether or not they have a significant other. If they do, fans can be rather toxic sometimes dangerous and go rabid and start attacking that partner or the actors. Especially if that partner is female.
Often times you can see where one actor is more into the fan service than the other the other one feels more uncomfortable looks more uncomfortable but they still go along with it because it's all promotion. It's becoming less prevalent but it is still the norm in the BL industry. It's driven by fans that's ship them in real life and ask super personal questions like if they are gay or not.
There are some BL couples out there that if they aren't dating you can tell that they are genuinely close and feel comfortable with each other so their interactions feel natural and not forced (KP , OhmNanon , MaxTul to name a couple) or the couples that are close and don't mind doing a teeny bit of fan service (MewGulf and OffGun comes to mind). I just think FS and the way agencies go about it is extremely toxic and damaging.
Lovely Writer is a BL that looks into the BL industry and FS and calls it out shedding light on how it can effect actors personally.
about tharn type
@crazybooksandplantslady
umm while most BL actors behave as if they never kissed, Mew and Gulf act like its’ their wedding pretty much each time they are together. I have no idea what’s real what’s fan service but it’s insane and they look wonderful together. the series is lit.🔥
