bread and cheese is theeeee [checks doc] second installment in the Sthallona fic series! and the first formal meeting that Thancred and Sthallona have! they're about eleven and eight years old respectively in this, Sthallona being younger than him by about three years.
without going too into detail, Thancred had just saved her from a couple of thugs roaming around Limsa earlier that day. and she sneaks off her mom's ship to track him down and thank him properly, since she wasn't able to before.
thennnn he lets slip that he hasn't eaten in quite a while, from y'know, living on the streets, and Sthallona gets SO upset about this and runs off to go smuggle some food off her mother's ship to bring back to him.
they just end up talking for the rest of the night :) it's real cute and sweet and supposed to show that neither of them have ever had a real friend before. they part at sunrise, when Sthallona knows the night watch will be swapping out for morning. they promise to meet again for as long as Sthallona is in Limsa, so long as she brings him some food and he teaches her some knife tricks.
