"realistic" endings are so bittersweet.

on one hand, its so real because not everyone gets a happy ending. not everyone gets the person they're in love with. not everyone gets justice. not everyone gets the jobs/opportunity, whatever. having shows actually show that and be realistic is amazing because that's REAL life.

on the other hand, aren't tv shows and movies supposed to be an escape? isn't the whole point supposed to be that it isn't real? isn't the whole point supposed to be that it is entertainment? it makes my heart swell seeing people get their happy endings, even if it isn't realistic. it makes me happy that i get to see a happy ending, even if i don't experience it.

lastly, happy endings aren't always unrealistic. there are people who do get their love, get their job, get their dreams. there are people who get their happy ending.

idk man, i just feel like i see more 'realistic" endings than happy endings which is great...but also kinda sad.
