sticks and stones {open starter}
Helena was still rubbing her hand as she exited the seagull tower-- the stupid bird that was assigned to her had attacked her again; This was nothing unusual for the American witch. Animals of all sorts were not really a fan or hers and those feelings were definitely mutual. As she stepped out into the heat, the girl however forgot the pain for a few seconds-- the scents of sea and magic were lingering in the air; One could definitely not argue the beauty of Eulesea.
But again, as usual, the beauty of the island seemed to cover up just what a bitch the school was-- sure, the school itself was fine, but Helena had yet to find a fellow student from Eulesea that didn’t hate her; Things were tense around here and Lena wasn’t really sure why that was the case. Sure, the exchange students had sort of gotten a free ticket into this place, but then again, they had been chosen by the Headmistress herself-- Helena had definitely not expected some open arms welcome, but the hostility that she and her fellow exchange students were facing... well, she hadn’t expected that one either.
These things went unmentioned in her letter home, however. Her moms had been way too scared to let her go to another continent in the first place-- if she started whining about how mean people were here, she’d soon be back home in Salem; At this point, Helena didn’t want that. She came to learn something, she came to be the best witch she could possibly be-- a few bitchy students weren’t going to stop her.
The girl pulled on her dark blue skirt (a part of one of the school clothing sets), as she slowly started walking back to her tower; She had paired the skirt with a black tank top and black boots. During classes, Helena was a tad bit more formal, but since it was a Saturday, she liked to keep things more casual. Her leg prosthetic was casual as well. She had several spells put on these prosthetic-- back in Salem, she’d make her leg glow or she’d let it appear as if she had several tattoos along the prosthetic; but here? Helena would never admit this, but she was scared to be so bold on these people’s faces-- the hostility they had showed her had sort of prevented her from doing that. Thus, she had hexed her prosthetic to look, well, normal-- something that made especially Cooper wonder sometimes, but Helena wouldn’t answer any of his questions regarding that subject. Her leg, her decision, none of anyone else’s business.
Unlike many of the Eulesea students, Helena had chosen not to go to Griffinville Harbor today-- she was not comfortable enough to go to the Harbor yet; She wanted to get used to life her first. At this point, she was still overwhelmed-- her room was under water, after all. Things were different in Eulesea, strange-- there was a sense of unity among the students; And this only caused her to feel like even more of an outsider. Even the professors seemed to not be approving of them being here-- some of them, at least. Helena hadn’t talked to Professor Battarbee about these feelings, but she also doubted that she ever would-- talking about her feelings wasn’t something that Helena was good at.
As she still walked, Helena noticed how the island seemed to slowly fill itself with people again-- the Atlantica must have returned from Griffinville Harbor already. Kissing her peace and quiet goodbye, the girl walked back towards the center of the island, the campus, where most of the students hung out when there were no classes; She needed to cross the campus in order to get to Tower Six, where she was planning on changing clothes, putting away her prosthetic and crawling into bed before any of her dorm mates came back. She wandered through the mass of students, almost stumbling several times-- until she actually ended up falling. Thankfully, she managed to catch herself onto her hands and knees, grumbling under her breath. “Assholes.”, she breathed, slowly getting up-- most of the students hadn’t even noticed that she fell. Helena then sat down on one of the benches, waiting for people to finally pass, so she could get to her dorm without being pushed and nudged every three steps.
