Ruby Morrow

The girl shrugged– at least the woman could understand why she was struggling with the subject. But then again, Helena was pretty sure that only real geniuses could become student teachers at Eulesea; but then again, everybody was just really good at something around here, right? “Yeah. They just kinda smell that I don’t like them very much– and they respond with the same reaction, I suppose. I never got myself hurt in any other class; Care of Magical Creatures is the bane of my existence. But I had to pick either this one or Divination and– Divination creeps me out. So, here we are.” Helena sighed. “Yes, that’s something she said, too– doesn’t help that this hurts like a b– hurts very much.” Most of the time, Helena used her words very freely; but cursing like that around a student teacher was probably not a smart idea.

Ruby gave a small nod and shifted her weight slightly. She glanced down at the parchments she was carrying as she thought about her own time as a Care of Magical Creatures student. “Have you talked to the professor about it? Gotten suggestions from him on what you can do?” Ruby questioned, she did nod in agreement about Divination though, it wasn’t a very useful subject for those who didn’t have the Inner Eye. “I’m sure it does. Hopefully the pain will fade soon enough and it’ll heal quickly.” She said softly, ignoring the girl’s almost slip up.

Helena looked up as someone spoke to her– for a moment, she was unsure who the woman was, until she remembered that some student teachers were around here, too; She did look a tiny bit too old to be a student in the first place. Helena didn’t want to admit that she had forgotten what subject she was teaching, she the girl just shrugged– hoping that at one point, she’d say her name again. “I’m always in trouble in Creatures class. Not my kinda people, these monsters.” Helena shrugged. “No, the nurse said it’s not too big, so it should heal on its own. For whatever stupid reason.”

Ruby tucked a stand of hair behind her ear as she eyed the girl’s arm once more. She gave a delicate snort at the girl’s words and nodded once. “I was never partial to that class either, despite the interesting books about it.” She gave another nod at what the nurse had told the girl. “Probably so your body will continue fighting against infections and things on its own I suppose, Don’t want your body getting too used to being healed by magic ... That would be my guess anyway.”

“Indeed, a dance.” Margo grinned, “It’ll be great! Like the welcoming picnic. I’m thinking I should talk to Headmistress Montgomery. It’ll help with the exchange program, don’t you think, Ruby? Bring everyone together. What brings people together better than fun?!”

“Sounds ... fascinating.” She gave Margo a tight smile in return. She didn’t understand the blonde’s enthusiasm for the idea, but then again Margo was much more of social butterfly than she was. “I think ... if you want Headmistress Montgomery to agree to the idea then you should probably use that argument with her. The, uh, bringing everyone together thing.”

“To our defense, I think most of us are running away from her because we’re tired of searching for her robots – not even an extra A can make me go look for them ever again.”

“She does need to find a new way to contain them, doesnt’ she?” Ruby thought about bringing that up with Marisol but figured the subject had already been brought up to the techno loving witch. She shudder to think of some of the damage Marisol’s robots could do to the school and it’s occupants.

The blonde couldn’t help but chuckle a little as she watched Professor O’Connor disappear – she turned silent though as Professor Morrow noticed her.

Ruby blinked in surprise at the sight of the blonde student in front of her. She recognized her of course Eulesea wasn’t that big. She fiddled with the edge of her book and gave the girl a small faint smile.

Ugh.

“Trouble in your Creatures class?” Ruby shifted the parchments she was carrying so they wouldn’t fall as she stopped in front of the girl. She had never loved Care of Magical Creatures as much as some of her other classes, she had found it rather interesting despite the dangerous nature of the course.  Although she knew she had a reputation of being an “Ice Queen”, or at least she did when she was a student, she wouldn’t just ignore someone who was hurt if she could help them. “Why hasn’t the nurse healed it?” She asked softly, eyeing the girl’s injured arm.

All throughout the day, Meadow had heard nothing but the rhythmic drum inside her head. Why she had woken up with a strong headache, she didnt have a clue. Still though, with the day halfway over and dinner time swiftly approaching– she had already fully decided that she wouldnt cave and take a headache potion. Although she knew that it was the right thing to do, Meadow just didnt have the energy nor the patience to go and whine to the nurse. So instead, here she was. Staring out into the vast ocean waves while she herself was still standing safely on the dock. Time seemed to stand still out here, with the oceanic scents washing over her with the northern winds flowing through her hair. It was long moments before she heard heavy footsteps walking on the deck that she tore herself from her own musings and turned around to greet the newcomer.

Ruby sighed as she tucked a few wayward stand of her hair behind her ear. As much as she supported the Headmistress’ idea of an exchange program, and she did support it, the school was a bit more hectic than she was used to. She just wanted a little peace and quiet even for a few minutes, she she’d decided to head down to the dock to let the ocean peace and sounds of nature soothe her mind. She was startled to find someone had beaten her to the idea. A young girl, who Ruby was pretty sure was one of the exchange students was standing one the dock quietly. Ruby gave her a polite distant smile and inclined her head lightly. “I suppose so. I assume we’re here for the same thing.” She answered softly, her eyes moving to look out at the horizon.

“I think this year is coming on splendidly,” Margo grinned, as she always enjoyed the beginning of the year. “You know what will make it even more fantastic?! The dance we’re going to have. Muggles always have dances at the beginning of the year- Home-coming dances, I believe they’re called. We’ll have to have one. It will be fantastic! Absolutely fantastic… Now just have to make sure Montgomery goes along with it.”

Ruby raised an eyebrow as she glanced up from the assignment she was grading. She had been alone in the room, until Margo had burst in babbling. “A dance?” She wasn’t quite sure she shared the blonde’s views on this idea, she was sure she’d end up having to chaperone it, if Headmistress Montgomery agreed to it.
