And I hope you don’t either, anon! I’ve had a lot of experience making mary sue ocs, self inserts and the like and at any rate, I round them out because I need it to stay invested, and for others to. But that’s for me, and I do my best not to pull others down because of that, because everyone has their own things they like to do! I struggle with it sometimes, because I have anxiety over my characters being good. I make comfort characters for the exact purpose of giving them as many tropes as I want, as many edgy facets and powers as I want so as not to be tempted to give them to my other characters, but that doesn’t mean that they’re any less valid nor lovable.

And you know what?

I’m a fanfiction writer! I make content for a fandom that’s based on tropes! If people are gonna harass others for that, then there’s a big ol’ block button calling their name, alright? So even though I personally try to round out my characters for my own reasons, if you don’t want to, then you shouldn’t. Because everyone’s characters, no matter how developed, no matter how “edgy”, are VALID. 

Keep making your OCs, and make them however you want. If someone tries to tell you they aren’t valid? Let them cry and sob over it. You are in control of yourself, and they can’t do anything about it.

Your best is good enough.

You can focus on making yourself happy first,

You get to have fun with your own characters,

You can work hard and come out with a result that you cherish, no matter what others tell you.

Never, ever let anyone drain you of that. Your characters are perfect how you like them. 

I hope this doesn’t come across as too rant-y! I just feel your struggle, it’s a really hard mindset to break and so seeing it being reinforced hurt a little bit. But the amount of positivity coming from people because of this is absolutely incredible and it’s why I love this community so much!

Don’t let people like that get you down, alright? I agree, it’s draining, and it’s so very hard to ignore the negativity, but remember that 10 good thoughts can outweigh 1 bad thought, so keep surrounding yourself with people and characters and such that make you happy and content. Because in the end, that’s what’s most important.

We’re here because we want to have fun. We want to share ideas, we want to share our love for a work of fiction.

Medic is one of 4 (admin, pauling, and spy) to know theyre trans. While they tried to forge documents when getting hired, the only person it really fooled who saw them was Saxton Hale himself. He’s actually p ok abt it. He gives them hormones in exchange for Thief to be experimented on/for Thief to take care of themself. He’s ok with this trade off.

Supports support Supports!! Thief doesn’t exactly have a system of who they give their resources too but Medic usually gets priority for med kits because the team needs him a lot. Medic appreciates this greatly.

Thief isnt a medical professional by ANY means but they are super interested in pathology and the human body. They do talk abt disease and historical medical treatments a lot.

My self insert’s class is “The painter” which is a sniping subclass.

Primarily their weapon of choice is a paintball gun that causes poison damage due to the paint balls being toxic.

•much like pyro, they have a mask they wear during matches but they’re able to take it on and off. Usually they have really messy hair because of them constantly wearing a mask

•Actually was thought to be a guy until a few months in. Medic was the only one who actually knew they were nb because he had their medical records. He actually started them on T because of it. Some of the others caught on but nothing was ever said until Toby actually felt comfortable saying it
