Ima be honest, I didn't think this far ahead, but I love this idea! Soundwave is just so desperate to be with Shockwave that he doesn't realize that Shockwave is just with him for information.

Soundwave doesn't even know who Optimus is at first because Optimus never really goes out on the battlefield and actually fight[due to him being a pacifist] until Shockwave introduces them. While Shockwave is a bit hesitant to let Soundwave join in on his and Primes' time together, Optimus instantly agrees, scooting over a little to let him on their recharge station. Since it's really only meant for two bots it's a little squished which ultimately leads to Optimus deciding they need a bigger recharge station so they could all recharge together comfortably when Soundwave joins in.

Long story short, Shockwave now has to deal with two idiots running around their quarters and has to take care of them like a Carrier would their sparkling

[off topic- but they don't recharge in a berth or even lay down to recharge, they have stations they stand in and plug themselves into to recharge, hence the reason I've given them all little ports and jacks on their back or the back of their head]
