Once upon a time, in a moment lost to time. The Time Mage stood firm. He was a lonely man, though he never minded much. Most days were spent on his own, but he never stopped helping those who asked.

The Time Mage was kind. He gladly gave others his time. He helped whenever he could. And whenever he could not, he found a way. At first, his magic was used sparingly. As it should be. But little by little, the Time Mage began to rely on it. "I'll help the harvest grow." "I'll be there in the blink of an eye." "Don't worry. I'll turn back the clock." And each time, his magic answered. The time passed. The Time Mage grew wiser. His magic grew stronger. And when there was a problem, he always knew a way to fix it. So he used his magic more. And more. And more. The Time Mage knew he was asking too much of time. But there was always one more person to help. One more problem to solve. One more spell to cast. "Just once more," he promised himself. Time listened. One day, the Time Mage reached for his magic again. As he always had. As he always would. Someone needed his help. And the Time Mage could never refuse. The spell worked. The problem was solved. The people were safe. But this time, something else answered. His hair turned white. His hands began to shake. His skin wrinkled. His eyes grew dim. Years slipped away in seconds. The Time Mage tried to stop. But time had already begun to move. Faster. And faster. And faster. The Time Mage swore he only wanted to help. The Time Mage swore he only wanted the best for everyone. The Time Mage swore this was never what he wanted. But time does not stop for promises. And time does not forget its debts. As the last of his years slipped away, the Time Mage looked upon the people he had saved. And he apologized. "I'm sorry for wasting your time." Then the Time Mage took his final breath. His time was over. Gone in an hour.

There is also a second book that I have in mind referring to the past Time Mage, I haven't written anything yet but!!! I can definitely tell you that it speaks of the Time Mage in a whole other perspective.

I really want for any books in relation to the past Time Mage to show different ways people might of seen him as, and that would give Rowan more interest in finding out about the story of their Predecessor, trying to uncover the truth.
