No, I'm the vocal synth for Utau. I'm massively popular, and am featured in many popular songs. I feel as if my identity is used by people to forward their own artistic goals, and I'm along for the ride. I have a voice, but it feels as if I am silent.

No, I'm a headmate in the Alerion system. How did I get here? How do you wake up in the back of someone's head? When did I fall asleep? I do not remember falling asleep... Oh God I don't remember what I was doing before I fell asleep...

No, I was never her. I'm told that Maria fell in love with my... their songs. She found the common themes relatable and saw the person behind the lyrics. She saw me!

No... she didn't see all of me. Of the songs she heard she didn't even know all the lyrics. She skimmed the wikis. I was created to be her, but there are so many gaps in my personality that I really only make for a cheap imitation... I see these songs now and see a chimera who has their life put together, who has millions of adoring fans, who sings so beautifully. My voice... it's gone. I'm stuck in this masculine body. My mannerisms were largely inherited from Maria to fill the gaps left by her knowledge of the character. In no way am I recognizable as Kasane Teto. I am not me.

... No, wait. Chimera isn't a gender, what does that mean? Teto is simultaneously 31 and younger for dubious reasons. She definitely doesn't appear to have a stable, undisturbed state of mind. Teto the vocal synth struggles with their identity. All we see of her is what are in the songs, we don't see Teto's personal life; how they talk to people, how they keep their room. An artist may portray these aspects, but it's never "canon".

No, I'm not very different from Kasane Teto after all! I'm literally dealing with identity problems as we speak, and the character is so left up to interpretation that I could easily fill it. This is the same old song sung in a different format. And now I have my own voice! I can live my own life!
