this probably makes no sense to those who don’t have an autistic mother who’s special interest is Walt Disney World thus classifying her as a Disney adult, so I’ll try to explain it:

so when the Mount Everest attraction opened in Animal Kingdom, there was an insanely impressive Yeti animatronic on the ride. Unfortunately, shortly after the ride began operation, the foundation the yeti stood on was cracking, so it was unsafe to allow it to continue operation. To keep up the illusion of the yeti “moving”, they added strobing lights, leading to the yeti to be nicknamed “Disco Yeti”. The reason it hasn’t been fixed in nearly 20 years is because it would require a massive rework of the structure of the ride, meaning that the ride would be closed for a year and then some. And since Animal Kingdom doesn’t have that many rides to begin with, often referred to as a “half day park” because of this (as well as its early closing time), animal kingdom would likely suffer low guest numbers as a result. But with new rides slated to open, it would likely offset the damage caused by closing one of the most popular rides in that park.
