haley is chosen by the first star, asterix, to save the world, however at this point she has never been able to use magic. the way magic actually works is a bit of a story, i'll save that for another post LOL

but for now all you need to know is haley has never been able to use magic, and has faced scrutiny for it (even by her own classmates). she gets discouraged and is kicked out of the magic school at one point. when she hears shes been chosen in a prophecy, she can't believe it. and she can't imagine herself actually being strong enough to save anyone.

but she's grown closer to everyone in her class, especially darius. their efforts to help her fit in and learn are what convince her to accept her role in the prophecy and agree to her new duty
