something something skephalo being immortals who don't need to eat or sleep to live but consistently prepare food and meals for themselves and one another vs pumpkinduo consistently disregarding the basic human necessities of food and water despite having dragged themselves to the city's highest pinnacle in order to be rid of said constant state of survival mode something something bad assuming the role of food gathering for snf during the manhunt something something the only time quackity goes out of his way to eat being moments of genuine respite when there is literally nothing else to do.

i've had playlists for (almost) every major character from my AU pretty much since i started writing it, but i finally decided to polish them up and share them for anyone who might be interested!
note: i'm the kind of person who does character playlists based on songs that relate to or represent the character's worldview, struggles, personality, relationships, etc., rather than songs the character themself would listen to or enjoy!
as you could probably guess, the top 4 songs would sort of be what i deemed as most relevant to the character. the topmost song would then be The Song for the character :)
reflecting on on the false god's stage and chapter 60
in lieu of shoving everything into the end note of chapter 60, i've opted to write out a post here on tumblr instead!
everything following the break will contain major spoilers for said chapter (and all of the rest of the story, for that matter), so please be warned!
first of all, wow.
i know it's just minecraft rp fanfiction at the end of the day but still can't help but feel a bit moved by the fact that the day has finally come where i can say, yes. i've published 180k words of cold hard passion and dedication.
this chapter contained a lot of my own favorite moments i've conceived for and between these characters. especially from the B plot! when i first started planning this story and conceptualizing the character dynamics, i never would have anticipated this side of the story to move in such a weirdly philosophical direction. that being said, i want to say that it works?
i already talked about this in my last post, but skeppy's nihilism and quackity's existentialism really take center stage (lol) here. by the end of their conversation, they've each taken a piece from the other's worldview to understand themselves better and i think that's kind of beautiful???? idk i'm just kinda proud of how i wrote them :>
meanwhile of course, george is proven right on all accounts. who would've thought!
because of how much more plot-centric the A plot is i don't want to say much to avoid spoilers, but boy am i so excited for what's coming.
since ch59 was more snf-centric, i want to talk a bit about where we leave off bad here.
it's no secret that this story follows the structure of a shakespearean tragedy. in this vein, the "hero" possesses what is known as a fatal flaw, which is a shortcoming that prevents them from succeeding.
since his first argument with skeppy in ch1, bad's fatal flaw has always been his inability to listen. ultimately, it is this flaw that pushed him to take the manhunt job, that brought him to this moment, that sealed both his and skeppy's shared fate.
that's about it! if you made it to this point, thank you for reading! <3
the end of Part III leaves a lot of loose ends, especially when it comes to the whereabouts and statuses of certain characters (ahem karl ahem schlatt) which is definitely meant to reflect how the others feel about them at this point too. that's all i'll say for now....
as i mentioned in the ch60 end note, the first chapter of Part IV: Interlude will be published about a week from now!
power means nothing when there's no system or infrastructure to reinforce it. tc! techno and phil's precedence over the status quo made sure of that, and wilbur's absence is the nail in that coffin.
the syndicate commune was built to be autonomous. besides their weaponry and influence as people, the council never truly had any power over the residents.
dream getting rid of the entire guard force virtually severed any avenue through which schlatt/quackity could actually enforce a government of any kind, let alone a dictatorship.
the only reason why none of the surviving syndicate associates ie george hannah etc make any real attempt to "take it back" lies solely in the sheer loss and personal devastation caused by the coup.
what are some hc you have about the characters in the dsmp that you either want to incorporate or have already incorporated into on the false god’s stage?
thank you for your question!!!
i'm so sad i can't give a full answer because some of the biggest headcanons i have are directly related to a whole bunch of chapters that haven't been published yet and i don't wanna give spoilers!
mainly, there is a lot i could say about all of the immortal characters, both part of the main ensemble and the supporting.
in relation to that, the goddess of death/c!kristin is also a major lore pillar that hasn't been explored just yet as of chapter 48/49.
this is an interesting thing to ponder because i feel like my view of the dsmp is quite canon compliant to the point you might call me boring! i'm not a big fan of "OC-ifying" takes on the characters that don't have a strong basis/anchor in canon (unless someone has literally derived an OC from a character, of course), so as a result the majority of my hcs are worldbuilding-oriented lol
but as for what character headcanons i have that apply to both dsmp canon and the otfgs canon, here's everything i could think of on the spot.....! (warning: insane yappage ahead)
there aren't too many just because the circumstances/status quo for otfgs is so different from dsmp canon, but nonetheless:
estranged siblings c!schlatt and c!puffy
ok so this is definitely the most blatant example. it just makes too much sense for it not to be canon TO ME!
i remember seeing this hc pop up back when puffy first joined the server because people immediately drew connections between her and schlatt both being new yorkers and having sheep avatars/mascots.
but what endears me so much to this hc is that not only is there a superficial connection that gives it merit, but it actively adds to both of their c! counterparts and bolsters what is already established in canon.
canonically, c!puffy arrives to the smp after having crash landed in a ship that results in memory loss/amnesia to the point she remembers next to nothing about her past.
since we never got any answers to this mystery on account of the smp ending, this leaves c!puffy's past pretty much open to interpretation (short of puffy herself revealing what plans she might have had for her character).
given what both she and the audience can infer about her past as a sea captain, coupled with her courageous, strong-willed, and righteous character, would it be so out-there to suggest she might have been something of a nomad? sailing the wide open sea for who knows how long, all on her own? a country mouse, as opposed to a city mouse?
anyway, i also think the fact that she arrives to the smp on the day of c!schlatt's death alongside c!connor of all people just gains a whole new tragic significance with this hc that i can't really resist.
as for c!schlatt's side of things, his past being rooted in smplive is central to this hc. i have a whole plethora of "loreifications" and such that integrates these two smps into a shared continuity, but i'll leave all that for another day.
in terms of their tc! counterparts, the circumstances surrounding their estrangement are a little different than how i see it for dsmp canon. as of chapter 48, there have only been a couple hints sprinkled here and there but i'm very very excited to elaborate on this in Part V!!!
c!hannah and the syndicate
this might be surprising. but this is related to the infamous harpocrates.
(for context in case you weren't aware, back in the day when everything with the syndicate was starting to kick off and all the members got their own greek god-based codename, the elusive "secret member" called harpocrates was a huge subject of discussion in the fandom)
on a meta level, it's pretty much agreed upon now that this was a clever ongoing joke by techno that was playing on harpocrates being the god of silence, secrets, and confidentiality. in short, there wasn't a secret member of the syndicate.
on a storytelling level, people had all sorts of different theories about who harpocrates could be. personally, i always believed that it would be c!hannah or c!connor.
i won't get into the mythology of it all, but basically roses are symbolically associated with harpocrates and thus are associated with secrets and secrecy. the latin phrase "sub rosa" originates from this myth, thus the title for chapter 13 of otfgs is basically a reference to this.
so yeah, i made tc!hannah the syndicate's bookkeeper in part to bring my silly headcanon to fruition!
i like to think that c!connor was spiritually the "secret" syndicate member harpocrates by virtue of joining them on such a whim. plus that mf was up in EVERYBODY'S business like bro for sure had crazy dirt on everyone.
anyway, as strange as it might sound, all of this will also come up in Part V....... haha.
c!techno's motive for anarchy
speaking of the syndicate...
in short, i hc that c!techno's deep-seated, unwavering antipathy towards government is more personal than he lets on.
canonically, c!techno believes that any form of governance and statecraft is inherently tyrannical. he believes that government is antithetical to peace. in order to attain peace, government must be eradicated by any means necessary.
an argument that crops up time and time again against c!techno is that he is a hypocrite. he strives for peace, stability, and freedom, but it is his own idea of peace, stability, and freedom he fights for. as a result, he will actively disregard other characters' ideas of peace, stability, and freedom and utilize violence, mayhem, and persecution with a classic "ends justify the means" mindset.
honestly you could argue that what i'm about to posit is pretty much canon. the only reason why i'm calling it headcanon is because it was never really brought up in any significant way in canon, but i've chosen to give it significance. if that makes sense......
canonically, c!techno is an established anarchist. his beliefs surrounding government and peace are already in place when he first arrives to the smp post-election and pre-festival.
basically, without going into a whole bunch of tangets, i hc that his pre-existing relationships with c!wilbur and c!schlatt, and how those relationships end were the tipping point for him to found the syndicate as an organization.
because as far as c!techno is concerned:
c!wilbur lost everything, including himself, to chasing his dreams of statecraft. he became a maniacal, volatile, vindictive shell of his former self in the pursuit of l'manberg, and met a tragic end at the hand of his father with whom he never got a chance to reconcile with.
c!schlatt sought a new means to power through politics after losing everything he once had. he became a violent, tyrannical, alcoholic shell of his former self in the pursuit of that bygone prestige, and met his own tragic end at the bottom of a bottle.
thus, government is the harbinger of suffering.
tc!techno founded the syndicate and built the syndicate commune with similar driving forces. but unlike canon, he grapples with this inner conflict of feeling like he has become what he sought to destroy. chapter 18 pretty much explains this.
there's something to be said about his detachment from the ongoing narrative. parallel to canon, he retreats into the tundra and spends his days in a lodging there.
he offers some degree of help to each party he encounters, even tc!dream. even so, he himself does not make any apparent move to take back the commune or deliver justice for tc!phil's death.
for now, tc!techno's inner motives remain unclear but as the story progresses into Part IV, i think the reasons for what he doesn't do will start to make more sense.
c!orphanduo
aka technoblade and skeppy!
i absolutely went OUT OF MY WAY to incorporate their friendship into otfgs because it is criminally overlooked!!! i've always resented how little c!techno and c!skeppy interactions we had in canon, so i had a lot a lot of fun writing them as longtime friends.
@/GentlemanDerpy on twitter makes awesome c!orphanduo fanart and does a great job capitalizing on all the missed potential of their intersecting lore, particularly with c!skep's corruption!
at the risk of sounding like a broken record, Part IV will expand further on tc!orphanduo :)
humanness, wings, and the lack thereof
i view most dsmp characters as human. for any nonhuman character, i have a whole laundry list of backstories explaining the whys and hows. this is also something that is expanded on with Part IV and V so i won't say too much, but!
in line with the smp being based in vanilla survival with entrance to The End prohibited, i've always hc'd that nobody can fly.
admittedly, this isn't my own idea i think it's actually a pretty popular headcanon (at least, it was) that c!phil's wings were permanently disabled because of the november 16th explosion.
but to add to that, i like to think c!quackity did have wings but lost them prior to arriving to the smp. as for tc!quackity, well...
the one exception to this is c!hannah. her wings were granted to her by XD himself, after all.
i hope you got something out of this monumental yap session <3 i'd love to hear your thoughts/headcanons as well!

my approach to characterizing skeppy in my AU is kinda meta, mostly because it sort of has to be.
i've always felt like c!skeppy is one of the hardest characters to write in general just because of how little there is to work with. his motives and relationships with others are often unclear and deceptively simple at the same time.
this, of course, stems from the fact that cc!skeppy simply did not care for dsmp lore and only took part in service to bad.
tc!skeppy's worldview is directly based in this. he doesn't care about anything except for bad, not even his own self!
the corruption doesn't worry him outside of how it worries bad. the prospect of his own death doesn't bother him outside of how it bothers bad.
he's unapologetically reckless and selfish. he'd rather have bad stay by his side and watch him die than set off on a mission to save his life, because at least that way he won't be dying and bored out of his mind (and maybe he doesn't want to be alone either but that's besides the point).
he's come to terms with death and doesn't see any point in trying to stop it. he's roamed the earth for long enough, and won't reveal any underlying worries or fears because he doesn't see the point in doing so, because that would just worry bad more.
all this to say, this makes him the perfect foil for tc!quackity — someone who carries the weight of the entire world on his shoulders (or, at least, feels that way).
unlike skeppy, q is motivated by worldly ideals like justice and legacy. he is defined by how painfully mortal he is. death, hunger, fatigue, weakness, crime, and grief all loom over him in various ways all throughout the story.
skeppy doesn't understand why quackity keeps putting himself through these hardships. he can't relate to his motives, but recognizes that he's hellbent.
the one thing they do share is unresolved issues and resentments surrounding their respective partners.......
i think a really succinct way to understand tc!quackity in relation to c/ln!quackity comes from one specific line:
He [Slimecicle] called me a bad person. Well, guess what? Guess what? I am a bad person, and I'll fucking own it till the day I die!
by the end of his life, cquackity has done some pretty reprehensible things and is far past the point of absolving himself or even feeling remorse for a lot of it.
tc!q never quite falls that far. that's not to say he also doesn't commit some heinous acts, between helping stage a coup through an act of terrorism and committing homicide. but he isn't proud of what he's done.
he's terrified of the spiral, terrified of how far he's already devolved since the start. his entire character motive centers around redemption and not owning what he's done.
unlike c!q, tc!q doesn't see violence as a means to power. he's only ever seen that violence is a means to destruction and emptiness.
"It's kinda funny," she says. "That damn portal used to hang over us like some kind of gateway to heaven. Now it's nothing."
The violet light flashes in his retinas, framed by that sprawling, wizened willow tree. Its light rising to pierce the night sky, bathing the skyline in an infinite aurora.
Connor chuckles, despite the weight of obsidian suddenly weighing on his soul.
"Heaven, huh?" he mutters into his glass, taking a sip.
Puffy pads across the kitchen, unrolling her sleeves as she steps back into the living room.
"That's what it was to me, anyway," she shrugs. "Hell isn't fire or demons in my book, Con."
It goes without saying for them.
Hell is running the rat race at gunpoint.
