c!Bad is his Mom. I think c!Sapnap's behavior and issues align more with the issues caused by having an unreliable/unstable mother than an unreliable/unstable father. A lot of his problems relate back to self-worth and self esteem issues, and he tends to be either hyper self reliant (taking care of an entire country by himself) or extremely anxious about his attachments to his friends and later his partners (his entire world falling apart the moment he internalizes the (false) belief that c!Dream no longer cares about him). He lashes out, in the same way that someone who's been raised with a shitty mom lashes out. They just don't know any other way to process their emotions. In dsmp canon c!Puffy refers to herself as 'Papa Puffy', so I think there's canon precedent for referring to c!Bad as a mom and not a dad. :3

c!Bad wasn't a bad parent, but he wasn't a great one either. He falls into a sort of emotionally neglectful pattern when parenting c!Sapnap, because that's the way he was parented. He did his best to provide everything c!Sapnap physically needed, but he wasn't exactly emotionally there for his kid in the way that c!Sapnap needed him to be. He doesn't seem like the kind of parent to resort to spanking/slapping/corporal punishment in general (or if he did, it was probably Once and then he felt so bad he never did it ever again) but I'd imagine he's the type to lecture or shout and then feel horrible about it later. However I doubt he apologized later. Not because he was being superior about it but because he wasn't raised with the idea parents could apologize and as a result it just didn't cross his mind. He and c!Sapnap care about each other but there's emotional distance there as well.

As a result of this: c!Sapnap loves the idea of his mom more than his actual mom. Idea Of Mom is perfect. He can't do anything wrong and won't hurt c!Sapnap. When c!Sapnap talks about missing his mom, he misses the mom he never had.

c!Sapnap was a shy kid who didn't love interacting with people. He's actually relatively shy in canon. he's a nervous little creature when meeting new people, and he kinda got friend-adopted by c!Dream early on, which helps with a lot of his shyness, although it later destroys his self esteem when he thinks c!Dream no longer cares about him :(

c!Sapnap became independent at a pretty young age. This was partially bc of Bad teaching him how to do chores and cook pretty young, but I also like to imagine he's always had a bit of an independent streak and likes to insist he can do things on his own. Even when he can't do things on his own. This also leads to anxiety about asking for help, though.

"Sapnap" is a word from Old Demon, and the fact it's a modified form of "pandas" was a coincidence noticed later by c!Dream. Old Demon is similar to Latin in this type of situation. No one really speaks it anymore, but it spawned a handful of new languages and it's still important for documents and culture. I like the idea of Sapnap meaning Protector or Loyal. :3

c!Sapnap was a fat kid (and a fat adult). I don't wanna go into the specifics of this too much bc discussions of childhood anti-fat bias (and adulthood anti-fat bias) can be triggering for people. This was one of the few places that c!Bad was a Genuinely Good Parent All The Time, though, as he did his best to shield c!Sapnap from having to deal with that, encouraged a healthy relationship with food and exercise, and very intentionally and vocally reiterated the nether belief that being fat is A Neutral Thing That Some People Are (unlike the overworld belief that's more similar to irl beliefs where it's heavily stigmatized as a moral failing for some fucking reason).

He broke an arm testing his bite strength as a toddler

He had trouble controlling his fire powers when he was younger, and for the longest time could only really make ashes and smoke

He was a runt. Regardless of whether or not he was born in a litter. He was a tiny scraggly fighter of a runt :3

He loved "childish" foods as a kid and still secretly loves them now. Mac and Cheese and Dino Nuggets

He's an obligate carnivore the way most demons are! He didn't realize that most vegetables were edible Right Away and you don't always have to cook them until he was like 6 😭

He was a cuddly kid/baby and enjoyed being carried around in a sling during naps.

He was Very Suspicious of c!Skeppy at first and it took like 6 months for him to eventually accept him as A Potential Partner c!Bad Has Now

If he gets injured he's used to someone having to drag him to safety, usually exhausting themself in the process, so it startles the fuck out of him when c!Sapnap just kinda. Picks him up in a fireman's carry and scrambles out of whatever battle they're in to get him somewhere safe.

!!Rapid-Fire c!Karlnapity Headcanons!!

First up, species! c!Sapnap is a crossroads demon, c!Quackity is a classic bird-person style siren, and I see c!Karl as being a poppet of some sort. Partially because I wanted an excuse to give him some witchy motifs because I think he's neat, but primarily because it fits with the whole "plaything for a higher being, used to further the goals of something he cannot fully comprehend" vibe that he's got going on in the lore.

Re: Crossroads demon c!Sapnap: He can't use any of his magic for himself - hence why he doesn't just solve all of his problems that way. In order to use his magic, it has to be for someone else, and it has to cost them something of equal or greater value. I also 100% believe that c!Dream would've tried to sell him his soul for power on multiple occasions and gotten told no every time.

c!Sapnap did ballet as a kid, and while he enjoyed the "doing ballet" part, he did NOT enjoy the "interacting with ballet teachers" part. So he quit attending classes and is thus mostly self-taught.

I will forever be a "c!Bad is c!Sapnap's adoptive father" believer, and you can pry the idea of c!DemonDuo as a family from my cold dead hands.

Related to the above: I have no firm stance on who c!Quackity's parent[s] would be, but whoever raised that man did not hug him enough as a child and it fucking shows. I don’t know if that's even a headcanon or if it's just character analysis but either way I stand by it.

c!Karl does graffiti. Constantly. There is not a single flat surface in Kinoko Kingdom that is free of his art. And he's a founding member, so it's actually legal for him to do here - not that something as minor as "the law" ever stopped him, but it's still nice.

c!Quackity is the only person in this polycule who does not know how to sew at all, and that can be quite inconvenient for him at times. He does, however, have the option to use his inability to sew as an excuse to get right up in his fiancés' space whenever he "accidentally" tears one of his sleeves. Pro's and con's.

c!Quackity is the shortest, though not by very much; and thanks to his beanie, you can't really tell. c!Karl is shaped like a goddamn street lamp. His fiancés are at eye-level with his pecs, and are taking advantage of that 24/7. Free pillow babey let's go.

c!Karl colour-codes basically all of his belongings and the places that he stores them in the vain hope of not forgetting where he put his keys. He still forgets a solid 85% of the time, but it's progress.

All three of these men act like cats in their own way. c!Sapnap does that thing where if other cats pick them up by the scruff of the neck they just kinda,,,, bluescreen. c!Quackity likes to sit on or in literally anything that fits him. c!Karl will cause [very unserious] problems on purpose if he wants attention and isn't getting it.

These men do not have a concept of "mine" and "yours" anymore. Our house keys. Our potion stash. Our shirt. They would use each other's toothbrushes without even noticing if it weren't for the fact that their teeth have different needs due to being different shapes. They just quite simply do not care anymore.

Every time that c!Karl remembers something funny that happened, he brings it up instantly - partially because he likes making his fiancés laugh, and partially because he's happy to have actually remembered a thing.

Blood Duo Idea: sometime during the prison arc, the two of them start hanging out a whole lot, and c!Techno at some point begins reading classical stories out loud for c!Sapnap. He loves doing this bc c!Sapnap doesn't read a whole lot on his own and is unfamiliar with a lot of classic literature and greek poems/mythology, so c!Techno gets to share them with him for the first time, and c!Sapnap loves being read to bc he's always loved being read to, and hasn't gotten the chance ever since his original friend group broke apart.

Just before the prison break, c!Techno records himself reading some of c!Sapnap's favorites and gives him the record. This becomes c!Sapnap's most beloved possession, and he starts taking it with him everywhere. He keeps it on him at all times, it's one of his only personal belongings that doesn't get completely obliterated by the nuke.

He listens to it a lot after the nuke goes off, when he becomes the sole survivor of Kinoko Kingdom, and spends a lot of his time, when he's not gathering food or finding clean water, listening to it and hoping that c!Techno survived, and maybe, one day, he'll come back :(

he gets like. left by alot of people and tries to cling onto them Relationships and doesn't like to let them go whilst also trying to take the burden of arguments that happen and start peace like the argument between quackity and karl and he always gets caught in the crossfire, and is in the middle of it all. alot of his hurt turns to anger yet he's still so conflicted between his own moral compass and those of his friends who chose darker paths and routes

BUT ALSO WITH THE ARGUING. HE SAYS HE WANTS TO MAKE THE SMP GOOD WITH NO BAD PEOPLE BUT HES SO LIKE???? He gets emotional really quickly and follows his fight instincts and like stuff and he gets upset during conflict and. AUGH
