🕉 🚩 🇮🇳 🔱⠀ ⠀ Eklingji is a Shiva temple complex in Udaipur District of Rajasthan in western India. Eklingji is believed to be the ruling deity of Mewar Princely State and the Maharana rules as his Dewan.⠀ ⠀ The history of Eklingji Temple is recorded in the Ekalinga Mahatmya, a historical text written in the 15th century. According to the text, the original temple was built in 734 A.D. by ruler Bappa Rawal. The temple has been a victim of loot and plunders during the rule of Delhi Sultanate. The original temple and its idols were physically damaged.⠀ ⠀ In the late years, the temple was renovated and modified by many kings to preserve the glory and faith of people in Shri Eklingji. The temple originally belonged to Pashupata sect, then Nath sect and post 16th century it is managed and controlled by Ramanandis.⠀ ⠀ In the 14th century, post-invasion, the first idol was placed by Hamir Singh in the main temple. In the 15th century, Rana Kumbha renovated the temple by adding the Vishnu temple. In the 1460 inscription, Rana Kumbha is described as the accomplice of Lord Eklingji.⠀ ⠀ Later in the 15th century, the temple was again attacked by the Malwa Sultanate’s Ghiyath Shah. He was defeated by the Rana Raimal, the son of Rana Kumbha. Rana Raimal captured Shah and procured ransom for his release. He used the money to reinstate the glory of the temple. This was the final rebuilding of the temple, and an idol of Eklingji was installed in the main temple complex.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Eklingji Temple has a marvelous architecture. The temple is double storied with colossal pyramidal style roof and remarkably carved tower which adds to its beauty.⠀ ⠀ Exterior- The exterior walls of temples are stretched with stairs which directly descends in the water.⠀ ⠀ Entrance- On entering the temple, you will greet a silver image of Nandi (bull). According to mythology, Nandi is considered to be the gate-guardian deity of Mountain Kailasa. 🕉️🚩⛪🛕🇮🇳⠀ ⠀ Palayoor or Palayur is located near Chavakkad in Thrissur district, 2km away from Guruvayoor. Palayoor #mahadevatemple does not exist today. This temple was demolished by Christians and a Church was built in that place. Christians claims that this church was built by St. Thomas. The Christian story goes like this.⠀ ⠀ "Palayoor was a sea port, there were lots of Jews who were traders. St. Thomas stayed with these traders and converted a lot of people to Christianity. In one of the Temple ponds he performed a miracle. By this "Experience" many Brahmins accepted Christianity while the other Brahmin families cursed the place and left saying that they will bathe their next bath at Vemmanadu (5 kms away from Palayoor). Even today the place is known as Sapa-kadu or Chavakadu which means The forest of curse. The unhappy #Brahmins went to Vemmanadu and settled down there. The temple was then destructed and a new church was created. Saint Thomas founded 7-1/2 Churches, of which the Palayoor church was the first. The other 6-1/2 churches are: Kodungallore, Paravur, Kokkamangalam, Niranam, Chayal(Nilakkal), Korakkeni, Kollam and a half church-'Arappalli' at Thiruvankottu"⠀ ⠀ But Historians do not agree with the Christian claim. Their views are summarised here:⠀ ⠀ 1. The first church of Kerala was constructed in 849 CE at Kollam. Then the Hindu King of Venadu, Ayyan Adikal Thiruvadikal had granted permission to the Christian merchants of Quilon to construct a church. This royal grant is known as Tharissappalli Copperplate Grant of 849 CE. This is the first valid/authentic document relating to the Christian history of India. One of the 8 churches in 🇮🇳 ⠀ ⠀ 2. Until 1550 CE no reference pertaining to the construction or existence of a Christian church is available. ⠀ 🕉 🚩🇮🇳🛕⠀ ⠀ Stone chariot is a conceptual model of the Bishnupur temple architecture dedicated to Shri Vishnu located in Bishnupur Town in Bankura District of West Bengal State, India.⠀ ⠀ This Chariot is situated to the north west of small gateway. It is believed to built during 17th Century. It is located at about 2.5 Kms from Bishnupur Bus Stand, 4 Kms from Bishnupur Junction Railway Station and 3 Kms from Bishnupur New Bus Stand.⠀ ⠀ This Stone Chariot is made of laterite stones. Laterite is red clay, rich in iron, resulting from the decomposition of sandstone and conglomerates. Exposed to the sun rays, it dries up and becomes as hard as stone. It was used mainly to build the temple structure such as foundations, enclosure walls, pavers in laterite. Its porosity facilitated the drainage of rain water. Ex. Of temples made of Laterite stones are Angkor Wat and many Southeast Asian temples. Laterite stone blocks are also used as masonry material for housing construction in Malabar region of western India for ages, because of being abundant, relatively easy to cut and shape and showing good performance in many applications.⠀ ⠀ The Chariot is a small double storied structure stands on a low laterite plinth originally with three wheels on each side. The lower storey resembles the arched pavilion of Rasamancha whereas the upper storey with shikara resembles Eka Ratna Temple of Bishnupur.
