InDesign Refresher - Process Books
Year 3 - Unit 1 - Tech Session
Instead of having a on-campus tech session like we did a lot in first year, Ben made a short 15 minute video for us in which he explained everything important in InDesign for when it comes to making process books. The video was very good and it included all the basics I need to think of when setting up and working on my process book. I did use InDesign a lot so I kind of knew most of what was mentioned, however, there was a keyboard shortcut that I didn’t know of and that I think will be extremely helpful for me.
I screen-recorded the making of this. [Once it is edited I will upload it.]
For my grid I decided to use a baseline grid as well as 3 and 7 columns as I usually work with a straight number (6/8/etc), so this was a bit more experimental than using what I would usually go for. I designed two seven-column spreads and six three-column spreads. For the content I took some random photos and some photos from my work from last year, the text is - apart from the titles - placeholder text. I made sure to use paragraph styles (Absatzformate) and character styles (Zeichenformate) and also create a separate layer for the page numbers.
