(Because I can.) “you’re safe.” -Odi to Alma

The synthetic was breathing fast and staring at the floor with his hands gripping at his own hair as he sat crouched against the wall. He hadn't expected to be attacked by humans like that. But it seemed some people couldn't tell the difference between synthetics and androids. Alma wasn't exactly uncorrupted either, but Dr. Chen had convinced the Dryden commission and everyone else she knew that synthetics were the safe ones.

Unfortunately, she wasn't here to advocate for him this time.

Alma and Odi had gone out to run errands, and things had been fine at first. Completely normal, up until someone saw them and assumed they were both androids. They practically started a riot to get others to join them in trying to destroy Alma and Odi. Alma had frozen at first, too shocked to do much, until things started getting violent. Then he'd grabbed Odi's hand and run.

Now they were far enough away from the crowd and hiding in an abandoned building so the humans couldn't find them. At least for now. But Alma didn't feel safe. Having so much biological aspects to his physiology meant that he still had adrenaline coursing through him and was still in fight or flight mode.

“Uh - yeah, yeah he is.”

Hank huffed as he made his way over to the unknown man and his own dog, sighing a little once he was close enough to come to a halt right next to his own Saint Bernard. Sumo was still sniffing the other animal’s fur, interested in who this dog could be, his tail continuing to wag lazily as the old man leaned down to give him a pat on his large head.

“Sorry ‘bout him... uh, invadin’ your private space. ---He’s a good dog, wouldn’t harm a fuckin’ fly.” That Sumo was - a senior beast, but his character equally as soft as his fur was. A hand reached out to take the ball from the stranger, a thankful expression lingering on Hank’s own features as he tucked the ball into the pocket of his coat.

Druig disliked physical violence. He always had; the mind and the tongue were his preferred weapons. Although he no longer considered himself a hero ( really, he never was one to begin with ), he rarely hesitated to intervene when in the presence of unnecessary brutality. Thus, when Druig caught sight of an individual being pushed around by three men just up ahead on the sidewalk, instinct took hold. As his own eyes briefly shifted to gold, so did those of the assailants before they turned and rammed straight into the brick wall behind them before falling to the pavement, knocked out cold. They’d wake up with nothing more than splitting headaches — probably, they had hit it a bit harder than they’d needed to. A faintly amused grin crept across his visage. However, the closer he drew to the one they had been bothering, Druig sensed that this guy wasn’t exactly what he appeared. “You’re not human.” Blunt, perhaps, but there it was.

“No,”  Connor quickly corrected, holding up a finger towards Ralph. He held his ground but through analysis he could see the stress inside of the ever unstable Ralph raise rapidly; He didn’t want to do anything that might damage him any further. Who knew if his model could handle an overheating.  “That isn’t what happened, Ralph. I didn’t hurt them. They were perfectly fine the last time I saw them.”  But he couldn’t say as to their status now. They crossed the highway, and Connor had never been able to catch up to them after.

They’d come to him. 

Markus’ office door was always open when he was in. The small group of New Jericho residents had come hear less officially, then individually concerned. Erin, one of their coordinators of housing, was among them. Markus could feel the way the others shifted, uncomfortable. Erin kept his eyes and talked the most, carefully choosing her words, 

“He-... lashes out.” She said, the way she opened her hands an admittance that she saw no gentler way to put it, “There was an incident with another resident-”

“It was resolved.” The man who offered this had introduced himself as Ryan. Markus remembered him. He’d come to New Jericho like many others - looking for a place where he did not have interact with humans on a regular basis. He’d been afraid then, and he’d found a place where he felt safer at New Jericho. Markus knew he lived in one of their apartments (small, but comfortable units; they were limited unfortunately, necessitating the continual work on housing in the city), in a part of New Jericho (a residential wing) that was exclusive to Androids. He saw a trace of fear now.

“Was anyone injured?” Markus asked, gentle, but to the point. 

“No.” Erin said, certain. She wasn’t lying, though Markus watched her straighten her shoulders slightly, as if she worried because of that fact he might think this problem wasn’t worth his time. “But we’re concerned if he does-” 

Markus stood, from where he’d leaned on the edge of his desk, lifting a hand, “I understand, Erin. Thank you all for coming to me. I’ll talk with him... and see what I can do to help.”

“... We didn’t want to ask him to leave.” 

Markus turned at the remark. Asking an Android to leave New Jericho was... a  serious deliberation. Suggesting it was tantamount to an insult and offense in day-to-day conversation. They had rules (everyone knew them; they were public, accessible, and decided by open-sessions). There were certain rules that when broken would prompt a request for someone to leave, but-... it was not something done commonly. New Jericho was a place of shelter and safety. They wanted to avoid costing any Androids that peace, if at all possible.

“No. We don’t.” Markus agreed.

Markus found Ralph where they had told him to look, alone, in one of the apartments near the back of New Jericho. New Jericho was partly aged, brick and mortar, the carved out and remodeled frame of an old, but large church. It had next to no resemblance to what it had originally been, and with much of the front portion built-on, there was only the vague sense that some of the back apartments were once part of an historied, brick structure.

Cassandra didn't think twice, she just crouched and went through the hole, it was like a big adventure for her. As soon as she passed by she came to a poorly kept garden but still had beautiful features, some different colorful flowers. She keep going until get to a fancy porch and she could see a door should go into the place. She was not too drunk but drunk enough to not realize some spots the red lights.

So she tried to open the door, didn't work, so se just sat down on a near by bench.
