I'm not going to attempt to explain Frankie Bones' lengthy history and his influence on the American rave scene. There numerous articles that tell his story better than I could.

Suffice to say, Frankie Bones is one of the most respected and revered techno DJs in America. So when I learned he would be appearing alongside another techno icon from New York– Joey Beltram – I knew this was one night I couldn't miss.

Bones delivered an unrelenting locomotive of beats and breaks. Lots of fresh material as well as a few remixes of classic tracks.

This event was billed as the "last" Technostate. It's hard to believe that after a 20-plus year run, Technostate will come to an end. I have my doubts about the finality of it, but I can't be sure. I suspect Technostate's promoters will continue hosting events in some form or another.

If this night was truly the last Technostate event, then what a lineup to go out with! Frankie Bones has played for Technostate numerous times over the years, going back to 1994. How appropriate it was to end with Frankie Bones presiding over the decks, the "Godfather of PLUR" himself!

Here's Thee-O throwing down a monster techno set at Technostate, May 12, 2018. Thee-O can always be counted on to deliver meaningful, memorable sets, and this mix is no exception. I describe this set as deep, bass-y, occasionally dark, with a moderate, pulsing tempo.

Thee-O opened the night ahead of two New York rave legends: Joey Beltram and Frankie Bones. Woah! What a night!

This is a 77-minute audio recording of DJ Hyperactive playing at Technostate on February 4, 2017, in Los Angeles. The live set began at 11:30 PM.

Techno legend Hyperactive once again graced the decks at Technostate, delivering a solid course Chicago-style techno, characterized by its driving, 4-on-the-floor beats and syncopated synth lines.

The lineup also included LA mainstay Thee-O, along with the iconic Joey Beltram.

This installment of Technostate took place at an intimate warehouse near downtown LA, a spot they've used a few times before. All the necessary elements were present: top-notch talent, booming sound, minimal lighting, mind-bending projections, and authentic vibes.

This is an 86-minute audio recording of DJ Thee-O live at Technostate, recorded Saturday, February 4, 2017, at warehouse party near downtown Los Angeles. The set began at 10:00 PM.

Here is Thee-O playing the opening set at Technostate, recorded two Saturdays ago. I would describe the mix as intelligent, minimal and slightly dark – perfect for an overcast night in downtown LA.

Thee-O is certainly one of the hardest-working, most beloved dj’s to emerge from the SoCal rave scene. 20+ years after the movement’s genesis, he continues to appear at numerous events every month. Thee-O’s stylistic flexibility ensures that each performance will bring something new. This Technostate was no exception. It was a moving experience listening to this transcendental set over the bass-heavy sound system as the room filled with eager dancers.

Now, you can experience the magic of that night [again].

Technostate – going strong in 2016! A promotion crew that has persisted since the early 1990's, Technostate continues to bring world-class deejays to the Los Angeles underground techno scene. A couple of days ago they hosted yet another inspired, one-off event. All the important elements were present – a cool venue, fantastic sound system, stimulating visuals, a passionate crowd and top-notch talent.
