I have been reworking Mel quite a lot lately, I will try to make a post about all the changes added to him soon (I also really need to update his reference sheet........)

The first change that's easiest to introduce is changing his hydreigon into a volcarona ! I thought that him having a volcarona would make a better contrast not only to Dardanne but also to Ghetsis ! It also makes hydreigon "rarer" in-universe, which would correlate with its pseudo-legendary status !

Mel's larvesta/volcarona is called Whimsy, and was a gift from Ghetsis to strenghten Mel's team.

Self-loathing

As promised, Dardanne gets a deino !!!

Dar is around 14 years old, so he's been in the Castle for two years already. One day, he kind of just... Stumbles upon a deino. There, in the Castle. It seems like the pokémon somehow escaped its trainer. The deino holds a pokéball in its mouth, and it tries to give it to Dar, who keeps anxiously refusing it. Dardanne is about to choose to bring the deino to the Sages, but when he sees how distressed this makes the pokémon, he gets a gut feeling that this decision would somehow endanger the little dragon.

Plasma really acted as a double-edged sword with Dardanne. If they hadn't been teaching him that saving pokémon and ensuring their well-being was always the right thing to do, maybe he wouldn't have decided to pick up the pokéball and recall the deino in it, keeping it safe with him until he'd be able to liberate him

I won't spoil more as I have been writing fics about this specific deino !!! I'm trying to proof-read my fics as best as I can before I post them on my AO3, as English isn't my first language !
