Hi, Em! Sorry for the delay.
Caught the flu and got really sick.
I really enjoyed the ending of The Breaking Point, even though I wanted moooore!!!! I liked how you left it open.
Now I'm hoping (and wishing) for some blurbs and one-shots in the future so we can see where everyone ends up.
Now, I have some questions for you (if it’s ok):
Do you think Jo and George rekindled their relationship, or did they come to understand that it was something that could never be? Will henrik succeed? And Ivy?
What was you process of choosing the ending?
That’s it!!
Have a lovely day!

Hello my lovely 🪼!! Thank you for your patience on this as I saved this until after the epilogue!!
Although I left the epilogue a bit up to interpretation around some of your questions, I can most certainly answer how I see this universe and these characters progressing.
Jo and George definitely eventually find their way back into their relationship. Eventually being the key word. There was a lot to smooth out that we didn't see directly in the plot and figuring out their relationship was certainly not the priority. Probably near the end of the following season, they finally decide to be 'official' and try to focus some of their efforts on their relationship, adult to adult. By then, I think the kids would be very familiar with each other and so it would feel like an almost natural transition/next step.
Honestly, I'm undecided on Henrik and Ivy's future careers! Part of me wants to stick close to reality in knowing it would be extremely rare for one (but especially both) of them to make it to F1. (and over in the TWIG universe, we already have one of the kids becoming F1 wdc...I don't want to overdo/repeat my characters' lives lol). Maybe they each take their own journeys into the lower Formula categories at least. I'm not sure! Open to others' interpretations on this ofc :)
In all honesty, out of all my longform fics, this ending I'm most insecure about. Which is strange because this fic I worked the hardest on in terms of character, character development, and where the 'right place to end' would be. It made sense to keep the ending hopeful without just spoon feeding 'this is what happened' to you.
I knew I wanted George's 'forgiveness' to feel earned and developed, not just immediate. I knew I wanted the parents to be hesitant for many reasons but mostly for their kids and I really focused on what this ending would have them each thinking and feeling.
I didn't want George to feel like the rescuer or the knight in shining armour at any point in this story but especially the end. I definitely knew the sponsorship would be reinstated but figuring out how without jeopardizing the realism of the characters' development or making it feel too one-sided was very important to me. I wanted Josefine and George to feel as much like equals as I could.
And ofc I wanted Ivy to have her major turning point too. I know we didn't see it directly (totally open to writing that if you guys want!) but the bit of her 'scolding' George in the car after Silverstone was a major point for her. It really solidified the ending. I could have just written that George 'forgave' Josefine and Henrik and that is that, but I knew that without having Ivy turn that corner, the sponsorship would never be reinstated. George would never do it without her 'permission' and knowing she was okay.
I could go on and on hehe. Thank you for asking! I love having these discussions with my lil community <3
