CHAPTER EXCERPT (OC Rymme POV)

Rymme had known it was raining that morning before she even opened her eyes. Even in the haze of sleep, there was a certain feeling in the air, and a hiss of water hitting the wide windows in the main living room that she recognized easily. I didn’t rain all that often, but whenever it did, Rymme liked to walk up to the roof deck and just… stand in it. Let herself feel the cold little drops speckling her face.

She didn’t usually have an audience, and it was only now that she did, she thought she might have been doing something strange all these years.

“You like the rain?” Hunter walked up next to her. They were supposed to be heading for Clone Force 99’s ship, but Rymme couldn’t help wandering towards the edge of the roof, where she could see the hazy mist obscuring the city skyline.

If Rymme really thought about it, she shouldn’t like the rain. It was cold and wet, and made everything slippery.

“It makes me feel alive.” She answered instead.

“Huh…” Hunter said, as though contemplating what she’d said. “It’s always raining on Kamino. When the sun would finally come out, and you’d feel the heat of it… yeah, I think I know what you mean.”

“Some cultures believe rain is a bad omen.” Tech’s voice appeared behind them. Rymme would have jumped normally, but the deck was wet enough that she’d heard his footsteps approaching. “I wonder what that says about Kamino, if it’s always raining.”
