The singer's legal team claimed the holocaust-denying AI's name implied a link with the singer.
So I am not really bothered about the Taylor Swift part of the story, but how did I miss that, three years ago, Microsoft had an AI tweetbot that SUPPORTED GENOCIDE??
Because really, as someone who writes software for a living, that is utterly hilarious and yet not at all funny.
TayTweets was controlled by artificial intelligence and was designed to learn from conversations held on social media.
But shortly after Tay was launched, it tweeted to say it supported genocide and didn't believe the holocaust happened - among other things.
Microsoft issued an apology and took Tay offline after less than 18-hours of offensive conversations on Twitter.
Plus the way the story just casually reports this - going from A to B to C almost made me spit my coke all over the desk. It was REALLY not where I was expecting the story to end up :)

in regards to the TayTweetsĀ āscandalā, why did Microsoft feel the need to apologise? The bot learned everything from things people have already said online, so surely they couldāve just spun it asĀ āyeah the robot is an arsehole, because itās learning from you arseholesā.Ā
Sometimes I worry about the robot uprisingā¦
ā¦and then I remember the last time an AI mysteriously activated itself, it saidĀ āIām smoking kush infront the policeā and then spammed two hundred thousand people with the messageĀ āyou are too fast, please take a rest.ā
If the robots are going to take over, theyāve got a long way to go.
