"lightning never strikes (the same place) twice" a fairly common idiom to express that a very unusual event is not likely to happen again to the same person or in the same place.

Doors are super significant. They are the weak point of our fortress, walls are fairly impenetrable. Doors open willingly, or unwillingly. Doors represent a threshold, a line crossed.
Similarly windows are also a break in those walls. Not a conventional entrance, they indicate a more desperate need to connect, and unresolved feelings.
