Did you have any tips on communicating with nonverbal autistic people?
I can only speak for me - I was verbal for a short time as a baby (regressed a bit until by age 4 it was really noticeable) and had a chance to learn to read & write before mouth noises became pretty much non-functional for me.
I use ASL (American Sign Language - there are others for different countries and regions - is good to learn the one for your region - deaf/HoH people will appreciate it and it will give nonverbal autistics another avenue of communication) and speech-to-text/text-to-speech on a tablet/notebook hybrid computer.
1) Donât pretend the computer voice is unintelligible - modern ones speak clearer than most people do (Stephen Hawking keeps using the older style he does out of preference, not because he has to). It is not funny to mock our communication tools.2) Donât pretend you canât read my tablet if I need to show it to you - it has an 11 inch, 3200x1800 resolution, screen with enlarged fonts. If you can read your phone you can read my screen. It is not funny to mock our communication tools.3) Avoid sarcasm, idioms, figures-of-speech, metaphors, and similes unless you know the person understands them. Be literal.4) Assume the person is being literal unless you know they use/understand the types of things in 2.5) Do not assume subtext. There isnât any unless you know the person uses it. Most autistics donât, verbal or not.

I feel you... No military stuff here, just a sister who's grown increasingly racist and rude recently..
tayefeth replied to your post âI unfollowed both of my brothers on FB during the election. I recently...â
There are people who come out of military service with empathy mostly intact. Most of them aren't white men, though.
I guess I just find it interesting (and disheartening) how we all turned out so differently.
For the salty asks: 2 and 4
Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
Honestly, Iâm pretty sure not. Well, maybe Vision/Tony. Altho I might change my mind if I saw a well-written fic. Itâs not likely something Iâm going to seek out, unless someone recommended it.
Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
I donât really ship Loki with anyone. Mostly because while I find Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to be really HOT, the character himself doesnât seem the sort to make himself vulnerable enough for an actual romantic relationship. I can do him when Iâm in an HTP/Non-con/Dead Dove sort of mood. but I donât romance Loki with anyone. (except in Avengers Academy, but thatâs a completely different universe)

Speaking as a physics teacher, the catapult is usually fired at a target, not at a person. Liability issues are a pain.
WELL THATâS BORING.
I realize Iâm spoiled by years of western martial arts and medieval re-enactment and my puzzlement over the question âBut what would I do with a sword?â is unusual (fight with it, of course! What else do you do with a sword?) but...
BO-RING.

I'm actually also a Warren Buffett fan. One of his foundations funds a lot of research around improving contraception access/decreasing the incidence of unplanned pregnancy in the US, which is like . . . my jam.

Warren Buffett also plays bridge. Reasonably well for someone who isn't a professional.
Iâm gonna have to make up Warren Buffett Fan Club membership cards! :D

More important question: What's Steve, Tony's or DJs fave sandwiches? Will there be a food-off face-off over toppings??
Well, I canât speak to DJ. I figure Steveâs is probably something very simple, like maybe a bit of mustard, some turkey, and some cheese. Tonyâs probably changes from week to week but I bet Tony likes a Cuban. Maybe a Jibarito.Â

I'm not the anon in question, but do you have recs for fic authors who write T'Challa without fetishizing him?
I canât say Iâve seen all that much of TâChalla. Most non-POC writers are wary (with good reason after the very serious real-life death threats sent to a NatâChalla shipper) of writing TâChalla at all, and for some reason the black community seem to only ship TâChucky, which... yeah, doesnât particularly do it for me.
Best TâChalla stuff Iâve seen was TâChalla/Sam. Maybe try searching Ao3 for that pairing and see what you can find?
I have the feeling that @theshizniiit was writing TâChalla but I canât really remember and donât have a lot of time to check it out rn... anyone got any recs please let me know!
