There’s a little surprise waiting for you at the end: you might be shocked to find out how the Staff of Hermes is with Modern Basim… even though you never actually see it anywhere!! 😌 I have to say… I really got creative with that part! 😉
Enjoy!

Eivor and Tarben commission
Playing AC Valhalla for the first time and I’m now officially obsessed with absolute cinnamon roll teddy bear Tarben the baker with a dark past and his soft looking tummy and his dinky manbun.

I approve of men preferring to bake instead of fight, so I like Tarben and enjoyed his quest. Here we are riding during the quest. For some reason, on the same horse. I'm pretty sure he was supposed to have his own horse?
Ah, yes. I think that's it back there, way off in the distance.
Can't blame him though. Eivor's Kyrr is an excellent horse, runs like the wind, jumps like a deer, swims like a trout.
Things progressed in the quest, and later on, Tarben did grab his own horse. Maybe Eivor was disappointed, but she didn't make any kind of deal out of it, just turned Kyrr's head towards home and plunged into her powerful gallop, Tarben thundering behind her. Soon, they came to a river. Undeterred, Kyrr dove into the water and began swimming, as she'd been trained to do. Literally trained, that is. Been taken to Rowan's stable regularly and had her swimming ability boosted and everything.
Apparently NPC horses don't do that.
With a brief but abrupt little flip, Tarben was in the drink and his horse wasn't going anywhere. Didn't swim towards the far shore. Didn't return to the near shore. Just Artaxed there in the water, uselessly.
You can lead a horse to water, but you definitely can't make it swim.
And Tarben?
Our brave baker man didn't get back on his horse.
Apparently if you want a quick and painless way to completely derail a quest, wait until your friend is on a horse and then lead him into deep water and watch while nothing you or he does results in him getting out of the water, nobody can go home and wrap up the quest, presumably your baker will tread water until Ragnarok, and no one gets bagels.
I ended up resetting the save and salvaging the quest by crossing in shallow water and going back to the thorpe and then Tarben became Eivor's baker with benefits. If Tarben sometimes looks up from egg-washing his buns and has a sudden, hazy memory of dark water and a useless Artax horse and Eivor riding wordlessly away on her very capable swimming horse, well, he must just shake it off and go back to baking.
