That moment when Qabiha places her three fingers on Basim Ibn Ishaq’s chest and tells him “We will set you free”…
She wasn’t talking to Basim at all. She was talking to Loki.
I’ve said this so many times; Basim and Loki are two separate entities. Basim is essentially a vessel for Loki. Loki’s presence stays beside him constantly. In mirage, when Basim was awake, Loki appeared as Nehal; when he was asleep, he showed up as the Djinn. And eventually, out of pure loneliness and emotional dead-ends, Basim chose to accept him. He agreed to become Loki’s ally —a body for a consciousness that exists but has no physical form of its own.
But here’s the important part… 🥺
When I was playing ac Valhalla, during this conversation between Eivor and Kassandra, Kassandra suddenly says, mid-sentence:
“Loki got bored?!”
And I swear I almost screamed. Because look!! Everyone already knows what’s going on!
Qabiha knew! And with the help of the Order, she was trying to free Loki.
Roshan knew it from the very beginning too! She understood that Basim was constantly fighting an inner duality. That’s exactly why she did everything she could to keep Loki from awakening inside him. But Loki won. And when she told Rayhan “It’s over. What we feared has happened.” this… this was precisely what she meant.
Even Kassandra, when she said that line, clearly knew what was really going on.
Now here’s where it gets interesting… 🥹
Considering that Kassandra spent her entire unnaturally long life hunting down dangerous Isu artifacts to keep them out of the wrong hands… that tells us something. Those artifacts hold immense power. And they’ve all been gathered, stored, consolidated somewhere. And Aletheia (inside the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus, aka Angrboda’s consciousness…) she knows exactly where they are. Because she was always with Kassandra. Always guiding her. Always telling her what to do.
So this?
This had to be part of a bigger calculation. Part of a plan.
And now the Staff is in Basim’s hands in the modern day. See how beautifully it all connects?
At this point, all that’s left is for Basim Ibn Ishaq to finally free the Loki inside him! So that Loki can, in turn, free Angrboda, whose consciousness is trapped inside the staff.
But here’s the thing… 😭
Something deep inside me keeps whispering that Loki is using Basim. Purely instrumentally. Basim has spent almost his entire life working toward Loki’s goals, not his own. And I can’t shake the feeling that once Loki is truly free, he’ll discard Basim. He might not even let him keep the Staff.
And what does that mean?
It means Basim is shattered. Reduced to nothing. To dust. Gone. 😭
I can almost imagine Loki saying “You did your part well, Basim. This is where it ends.” ubisoft would absolutely do something like this just to rip our hearts out. 😭 (From the bottom of my heart, I truly hope Basim survives! Loki owes him a life! He owes him a real life!) And what else? Loki’s actions and the consequences they’ve had for himself, his family and the world are very much up for debate. I know many people might disagree with me but from Loki and Angrboda’s dialogues during the anomalies, I came to one conclusion: Loki is someone who would sacrifice even his own family for the sake of his pride, let alone Basim. If I’m not mistaken, this was also the core issue between Loki and Odin. I’m not saying Loki is a bad father or that he doesn’t love his family, no, but his priorities are clear: His goals > his family > Maybe Basim
Anyways, Basim says it at Eivor’s grave “I will find my children.” (already too aligned with Loki; calling them his children) And to find his children, the first step is obvious: he must free Loki and Angrboda. And let’s be honest… you can never truly trust Loki. He’s unpredictable by nature.
Even the mythological creatures in ac Odyssey (once you killed them) would leave behind a human body. Like they were never monsters to begin with.
Just people.
Just tools.
A tool to be used… and discarded later.
And honestly… it’s the same pattern we already saw with Kassandra! She was a tool too. A means to an end… just someone meant to gather all the artifacts in one place. And after she handed over the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus to Layla Hassan… Well. Yeah. Exactly.
And honestly? I’m scared that might end up being Basim’s fate too! 😭 I really really hope it isn’t. Of course, by then we might get a few new characters added to the story. Who knows! But I’m extremely curious to see how Ubisoft plans to move the modern day narrative forward! 😭
In ac mirage, we even have an Iranian isu named Milad (and you know I’ve talked about him a lot before) I’m really excited and curious about that thread too!
