Overall... I’m still glad there was a canon sex scene in the ending. Look it’s important for me to see that their sex life is satisfactory okay... even if it’s not... standard procedure, at least they’re happy about it. I haven't watched or read Devilman, but when Crybaby came out I went to Wikipedia to spoil myself since I'm too much of a pussy to watch it but I wanted to understand the memes. After I read the synopsis of the series, ending and all, it all sounded extremely familiar and couldn't put my finger on it. Half an hour or so later, "wait, it's CLAMPish. wait, wasn't this one of the manga they made doujinshi of? wait, all that weird angels/demons art on their artbooks was Devilman fanart?!" (1/2)

LOL yes, Devilman is very much the cauldron from which a ton of CLAMP’s delightful bullshit was birthed. angel/demon ships and tragic romances ending in Bad Ends, gender fuckery, apocalypse stuff...everyone points to X/Tokyo Babylon as their Devilman fanfic but imo the real Devilman fanfic is Wish/Drug&Drop.
