And while there are supernatural elements at times, it’s often difficult to recognize just where the line between real and unreal is, and when we’ve crossed it. She’s just as likely to remain in the land of the uncanny real, where things are possible but unlikely. She’s a master of tension and has a finely honed ability to keep her readers in a state of suspenseful dread that shifts and changes but never abates.
